Summary: The Assistant General Manager – Aquatics is responsible for ensuring the quality and success of Goldfish Swim School, overseeing all daily operations, including safety protocols, staffing, pool management, swim lesson quality, customer satisfaction, and employee engagement, among other responsibilities.
Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
– Directing and managing daily operations in alignment with Goldfish Swim School standard operating procedures.
– Assisting the General Manager and department managers in executing daily tasks effectively.
– Leading GSS staff to ensure high productivity, exceptional performance, and positive employee morale.
– Overseeing employee engagement initiatives to foster a satisfying work environment and a strong company culture.
– Managing the training and development of the aquatics department to ensure swim instruction excellence in accordance with GSS standards.
– Communicating with wet side staff regarding operational matters, including class schedules, student progress, and customer service.
– Maintaining and troubleshooting pool chemistry and pump room operations effectively.
– Acquiring in-depth knowledge and experience in GSS pool operations to uphold a safe and sanitary swimming environment.
– Conducting evaluations and assessments of all instructors and trainees prior to independent teaching.
– Directing, training, and overseeing the implementation of the Emergency Action Plan and all related safety procedures for the GSS facility.
– Collaborating with team members on issues related to class scheduling, student progress, customer service, and staff training and performance.
– Providing sales and marketing training to qualified sales staff while collaborating with the Marketing Manager to enhance customer service and sales effectiveness.
– Offering guidance in the retail and vending departments to ensure an appropriate mix of products and competitive pricing; assisting the GM with purchasing decisions.
– Training and supervising private party staff to guarantee adherence to GSS standard operating procedures.
– Partnering with the GM and Marketing Manager to manage social media activities, book water safety presentations and events, and establish partnerships with local businesses with similar values.
– Overseeing the monitoring of email, voice messages, and social media channels to ensure prompt and appropriate responses.
– Gaining proficiency in all technology platforms to enhance bookings, class schedules, reporting, and administrative operations.
– Developing comprehensive knowledge of GSS pool operations to effectively train front desk staff to promote the program and address customer inquiries.
– Cultivating a positive workplace culture and fostering employee interactions to maintain high levels of staff satisfaction.
– Ensuring the continual implementation of the Emergency Action Plan and safety procedures while providing training to all current staff.
– Keeping certifications current and remaining proficient in the fields of aquatics and management.
Education/Experience: A high school diploma or GED is required, while a Bachelor’s degree in business administration, communications, or a related field is preferred. Relevant experience as a certified lifeguard, youth sports instructor/coach, camp counselor, and/or childcare provider is necessary, with a preference for candidates who have two or more years of swimming instruction experience.
Certificates and Licenses: Certified Pool Operator and Lifeguard Instructor certifications are mandatory and must be kept up to date.
Work Environment: This role regularly exposes the employee to heat and humidity, with a typical noise level that is moderate.
