Job description:
Under the general supervision of the Program Manager, the Recreation Supervisor plays a vital role within the Recreation and Parks Department, overseeing a diverse range of activities and programs aimed at serving adults and seniors. This position is responsible for the management and operations of the Hilliard Social Center (HSC), Hilliard Café, and various adult and senior programs, including leagues, trips, card clubs, fitness initiatives, lunch programs, and special events. The Recreation Supervisor provides leadership to part-time Recreation Aides, Instructors, and Contractors, ensuring high-quality customer service and adherence to safety protocols, financial management, and compliance with regulations.

Key responsibilities include developing and implementing community programming for the Hilliard area and for “The Well,” an expansive new recreation and wellness center that encompasses multiple facilities, including classrooms, aquatics, and fitness areas.

Essential Functions:
– Offer exemplary leadership through effective communication, embodying Hilliard’s vision, mission, and values.
– Deliver outstanding customer service by addressing inquiries regarding adult and senior programming, resolving issues, and enhancing processes while serving as a liaison to local senior and non-profit organizations.
– Supervise part-time and contractual staff, which includes recruitment, training, performance evaluations, and managing schedules and payroll.
– Plan, coordinate, and implement a variety of high-quality recreation programs, day and overnight trips, and special events in alignment with market research and local, regional, and national recreation trends.
– Monitor program registration and attendance, conduct feasibility assessments, and prepare quarterly and year-end financial reports.
– Maintain applicable records and data, ensuring they are accurate and up-to-date.
– Collaborate with Programming and Facilities teams to manage the use of Recreation and Parks facilities, including preventive maintenance and inspections of the HSC.
– Effectively handle emergency situations, adhering to established protocols and making recommendations for policy revisions.
– Negotiate contracts with independent contractors and vendors, ensuring compliance with established agreements.
– Investigate complaints related to programs or facilities, striving for positive resolutions.
– Pursue required certifications and participate in professional development to stay current with industry best practices and regulatory compliance.
