The Reserve at Red Run, Madison Heights’ newest senior independent living facility, is seeking skilled cooks to join our team. Our facility features a state-of-the-art kitchen and a ‘cook to order’ menu, emphasizing the importance of exceptional food in fostering a vibrant community. As a Cook, you will be integral in executing and coordinating food preparation to meet or exceed quality, quantity, and service schedule standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and cook meals for community members.
  • Coordinate and assist in managing meal service operations.
  • Ensure sanitation of all food service areas.
  • Maintain accurate record-keeping practices.
  • Oversee the receiving and rotation of inventory.
  • Prepare meals accommodating special dietary needs as necessary.
  • Prepare texture-modified food upon request.
  • Adhere to all local, state, and federal food handling regulations.
  • Monitor compliance with quality service standards.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Culinary Arts preferred.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in a restaurant setting, cooking meals in large quantities.
  • Serve Safe Certification preferred; menu planning experience is a plus.
  • Ability to multitask effectively.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Proficient communication skills in English are essential.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States must be verifiable.
  • Willingness to undergo and pass a criminal background check.
  • A current TB test and physical may be required.

Requirements:

  • Availability to work every other weekend is mandatory.
  • Must be capable of lifting 50 pounds and supporting 100 pounds.
  • Frequent kneeling, crouching, and bending are necessary.
  • Ability to stand for the duration of the shift is essential.
