Job Overview
The Cook is responsible for utilizing their culinary knowledge and experience to ensure the efficient, timely, and safe preparation and serving of food in accordance with established recipes. This role is critical in upholding food safety and sanitation standards, while maintaining an orderly kitchen. The Cook will also oversee all food production in the absence of the Dining Services Coordinator.

- Upholding the highest standards for food quality and taste at all times.
- Preparing and serving meals punctually, in accordance with standardized recipes and menus.
- Utilizing production sheets to accurately document food production quantities as well as cooking, holding, and cooling temperatures.
- Implementing required dietary modifications as needed.
- Employing Sunrise systems for accurate order taking and meal delivery.
- Stocking, rotating, dating, and storing products according to food safety regulations.
- Maintaining a clean and organized kitchen, storage, and workspace.
- Completing assigned cleaning duties and ensuring accuracy on daily and weekly cleaning logs.
- Maintaining precise equipment logs and promptly reporting any issues.
- Ensuring that all cooking equipment remains safe and operational, with timely issue reporting.
- Complying with OSHA standards, local Workers Compensation Act requirements, and Occupational Health and Safety Regulations, while following safety protocols and utilizing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Performing additional Dining Services duties as directed by community leadership, which may include:
- Dishwashing tasks to effectively sanitize all kitchenware.
- Operating dish machines according to manufacturer guidelines.
- Performing light janitorial duties such as sweeping work areas, sanitizing production zones, and disposing of trash.
- Cleaning designated kitchen equipment including stoves, ovens, fryers, and more.
- Assisting with service in dining areas as needed.

- Dedicate yourself to serving our residents and guests in alignment with our Principles of Service.
- Contribute to overall engagement initiatives for both residents and team members.
- Attend regular meetings as dictated by the Dining Services Coordinator, such as Town Hall and Department Team gatherings.
- Maintain compliance with all required training and necessary certifications as mandated by state or provincial regulations to ensure adherence to Sunrise standards.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of one (1) year of relevant experience in food preparation within a restaurant, hotel, or similar setting.
- Possess and maintain a ServSafe® certification along with ongoing training as required by Sunrise and relevant regulations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Exceptional organizational and time management capabilities.
- Demonstrate sound judgment, problem-solving abilities, and decision-making skills.
- Capacity to manage multiple priorities efficiently.
- Age requirement: 18 years or older.
