Vector’s partner located in Ashtabula, Ohio, is a global leader in the manufacturing of petrochemicals, specialty chemicals, and oil products. We are currently seeking a qualified Maintenance Supervisor for a direct hire position.

Salary Range: $80,000 – $100,000 per year, with the potential for a generous annual bonus contingent upon target achievements.

Job Summary:
The Maintenance Supervisor will oversee the maintenance department, striving for optimal results and fostering improvements in safety, environmental standards, quality, cost efficiency, and reliability by effectively leveraging the talents of all team members. This role involves the mentorship and development of hourly mechanics through coaching, constructive feedback, and targeted assignments, complemented by dialogue utilizing our core competency model and personalized development plans. This position is designated as a Safety Critical Role.

Responsibilities:

  • Direct maintenance mechanics in the safe, reliable, and cost-effective execution of maintenance and plant activities.
  • Ensure adherence to established standards, procedures, and applicable codes while complying with departmental policies, ISO procedures (where relevant), and the collective bargaining agreement.
  • Ensure comprehension of and compliance with Process Safety Management (PSM), Occupational Health & Safety Regulations, and corporate policies to promote safe operational practices.
  • Maintain a focus on long-term company goals while managing daily outcomes and driving improvements in safety, environmental considerations, quality, cost efficiency, and reliability, along with the implementation of policy changes.
  • Conduct monthly safety meetings and toolbox talks, ensuring ongoing compliance with safety regulations, work practices, and housekeeping standards.
  • Coach and motivate technicians, foster teamwork and pride within the crew, communicate organizational goals and standards, and ensure accountability.
  • Guarantee a workplace free from discrimination and encourage mutual respect among individuals.
  • Manage the performance and development of maintenance personnel through consistent feedback, coaching, counseling, and recognition of achievements.
  • Promote collaborative resolution of work-related issues among employees, departments, and various workgroups.
  • Assist the Planner/Scheduler and other Supervisors in job estimation and resolving workflow challenges.
  • Ensure that tools, equipment, and resources are readily available for employees to complete assigned tasks safely and efficiently.
  • Be available to work day shifts, provide coverage, and be on-call as necessary.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent; an associate degree in a maintenance-related field is preferred. Certified journeyman status in a mechanical trade is considered an asset in lieu of a degree.
  • At least 10 years of maintenance experience in a chemical manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of supervisory, coordinative, or group leadership experience to effectively direct and lead others is preferred.
  • Experience leading within a unionized environment is preferred.
  • Proficient knowledge and hands-on experience with the maintenance and repair of rotating equipment, exchangers, piping, and valves in an industrial context.
  • A solid understanding of maintenance best practices and the implications of reliability on unit operations.
  • Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), particularly SAP, is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) is preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to foster and maintain cooperative relationships among employees, peers, and supervisors.
  • A consistent demonstration of high standards and modeling of appropriate professional behaviors.
  • The ability to effectively manage performance, advocate for change, influence, and guide individuals and teams.
