The Retail Sales Associate serves as the primary point of contact for customers, delivering exceptional customer service while ensuring a pleasant and safe shopping experience. This role involves collaborating with team members in a fast-paced setting to expedite merchandise for sale and maintain effective displays on the sales floor. Additionally, the Retail Sales Associate provides operational support to the management team.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Flexibility to work a varied schedule that accommodates store operations, including opening, production, and closing shifts.
• Proficient communication skills in English for effective interaction with customers and Ohio Valley Goodwill Industries associates.
• Strong verbal communication and active listening abilities.
• Demonstrated sales and customer service skills, with an aptitude for anticipating customer needs.
• Competence in processing information and merchandise through a computer system and POS register, including basic calculator usage.
• Fundamental math and cash-handling skills; ability to accurately count and provide change, maintaining an accurate register with or without a calculator.

Physical Requirements

• Capacity to work in a non-climate-controlled environment.
• Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and twist for periods of up to 8 hours.
• Ability to lift up to 35 pounds on a frequent basis.
• Regular requirement to talk, listen, and utilize hands and fingers for operating a computer and telephone.
• Specific vision capabilities needed include close vision for computer work.
• Consistent and predictable attendance is essential based on business demands.

Role and Responsibilities

• Deliver professional, friendly, and courteous service to all customers both inside and outside the store, as well as over the phone.
• Accurately process sales transactions at the POS.
• Flexibly adhere to a schedule determined by the supervisor to support store operations, including availability for weekends and holidays.
• Maintain an in-depth knowledge of merchandise to promptly and courteously address customer inquiries.
• Uphold standards in dressing rooms and sales floor presentation, effectively communicating with management regarding product needs.
• Ensure a clean and organized register area.
• Execute store security procedures proficiently.
• Utilize the paging system to convey store messages.
• Perform housekeeping duties as required, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting (restrooms and dressing rooms included).
• Assist donors and customers outside of retail locations by greeting, receiving donations, and providing receipts.
• Communicate our mission and vision effectively to donors and customers while soliciting monetary donations at the POS.
• Undertake additional duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position does not involve supervisory responsibilities.

Compensation
The pay rate for this position is $12.00 per hour.
