Job description:
This position serves a vital role in coordinating, planning, and supervising the operations of athletic facilities and events, which includes the oversight of the Student Center and Farmers Insurance Athletic Complex. The successful candidate will ensure the seamless execution of events, compliance with facility regulations, and efficient allocation of resources. Key responsibilities encompass the management of daily operations, coordination of maintenance tasks, and supervision of staff. All functions will be conducted in alignment with the University’s mission, vision, and values, prioritizing diversity, equity, inclusion, and exceptional customer service.
Responsibilities:
– Lead the management and oversight of daily operations for the Student Center and athletic facilities.
– Organize all aspects of game day event management for athletic events, which includes the coordination of services, resources, and personnel.
– Oversee the maintenance of athletic facilities, collaborating with external vendors and the University’s facilities team.
– Manage the maintenance of technical systems utilized for game day operations, including troubleshooting sound and scoreboard systems as necessary.
– Schedule all athletic facilities for practices, games, and external events, including the development and management of year-round practice schedules.
– Develop and implement programs to generate revenue from the utilization of athletic facilities and the Student Center, including external camps, rentals, and special events.
– Coordinate all external camps hosted at the Student Center and athletic facilities, managing logistics for internal camps, and leading the external camps committee to facilitate communication with campus departments.
– Oversee the hiring, training, evaluation, and management of staff at the Student Center and athletic facilities, including student workers.
– Adjust facility hours of operation as needed, ensuring adequate staffing levels for seamless operations.
– Contribute to the development of best practices and operational enhancements within the athletic department.
– Conduct regular inspections to identify and address maintenance needs promptly.
– Collaborate with University facilities for maintenance and repair coordination.
– Develop and manage annual operating and capital budgets for the facility, including staffing, equipment, and supplies.
– Assist the Executive Director of Intercollegiate Athletics with athletic-related issues as required.
– Ensure adherence to all external and internal regulations and policies, including those set forth by the NCAA, GLIAC, and any specific provisions applicable to athletics.
– Provide outstanding customer service, anticipating and exceeding the needs of patrons.
– Promote and exemplify the University’s cultural values.

Qualifications:
– A Bachelor’s degree is required; a Master’s degree in recreation, sports management, or physical education is preferred.
– A minimum of five years of experience in campus recreation administration, athletic training, or fitness facility operations is required.
– Comprehensive knowledge of safety procedures and regulations relevant to this role.
– Technical proficiency in operating and troubleshooting sound systems, scoreboards, and technology used for game day operations.
– Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
– Proficiency in working with computerized data systems, including the internet, Microsoft Office Suite, and Publisher.

– Strong communication skills to engage effectively with students, parents, faculty, staff, and others while maintaining confidentiality.
