Position Summary
- Department Manager: Responsible for overseeing the food service program at a single site, providing leadership, support, and guidance to ensure that food quality standards, inventory levels, food safety guidelines, and customer service expectations are consistently upheld. This includes adherence to facility menus and compliance with relevant federal, state, and local regulations, aligning with established policies and procedures to guarantee the provision of quality dining services.
- Reporting: Maintain detailed records of income and expenditures, food supplies, personnel, and equipment, delivering these reports to both HCSG and facility management.

Training: Oversee all training, quality control, and in-service instruction to align staff with HCSG standards. Regular kitchen tours are required to assess work quality, utilizing Quality Control Indicators (QCIs) for documentation purposes. The ability to perform the essential tasks of dietary aide, cook, and dishwasher is necessary for training and support during employee absences.

Communication: Effectively relay directives from client managers, building occupants, and administrators to HCSG staff.

Safety: Employ protective gear in all appropriate functions. Ensure safe and proper mixing and use of cleaning solutions while adhering to safety precautions. Timely report any equipment or cleaning product needs or malfunctions to supervisors, ensuring compliance with established standards for safety and quality. Maintain infection control and universal precaution policies to guarantee a sanitary environment.

Punctuality: Maintain consistent attendance and arrive on time. Complete assigned tasks according to schedule and respond promptly to the paging system.

Customer Experience: Uphold HCSG’s positive representation by being courteous and cooperative with supervisors, co-workers, and client staff.

Qualifications
- Exhibit a positive attitude with the ability to follow oral and written instructions while performing routine repetitive tasks daily.
- After receiving appropriate training, leverage leadership skills to fulfill responsibilities independently without sustaining injuries to oneself or others.
- An associate’s degree or higher in food service management or hospitality, particularly focused on food service or restaurant management from an accredited institution, is preferred.
- Specialized training in foodservice management and nutrition is required. Proof of, or completion of, an approved Conference of Food Protection (CFP) Food Protection Manager (FPM) course within the first 14 days of employment is mandatory.
- Participation in a Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) course or certification as dictated by State & County law is required.
- Successful completion of the eLuminate Food Service Manager (FSM) and Long-Term Care Food Service (LTC-FSM) certifications within the first 60 days of employment is essential.
- A minimum of two years of experience in quantity food production/service, dining/nutrition, and personnel supervision is desired.
- Basic computer skills are necessary to maintain records and complete reports, including web-based reporting.
- Completion of an approved sanitation and safety course may be required.
- Consistent attendance and punctuality are essential.
- Compliance with COVID-19 Vaccination Policies as mandated by State, Local, and/or Customers is required.
- Must be capable of lifting/carrying a maximum of 50 pounds, pushing/pulling a maximum of 50 pounds, and standing, sitting, bending, and walking for extended periods.
- Capacity to perform routine, repetitive tasks continuously is necessary.
- Must be able to work in proximity to food and cleaning products.
- Residency in the service area is required.
