Position Details:
– Base pay starting at $28/hour plus additional component pay based on job efficiency.
– Shifts typically commence between 1 PM and 3 PM, encompassing an average of 12-hour workdays.

Position Purpose:
As vital contributors to the food supply chain, our Food and Food Service Delivery Drivers ensure that customer orders are delivered promptly and in excellent condition. They represent our company, fostering strong, lasting relationships with clients. The Hourly CDL-A Driver is tasked with operating a tractor-trailer or straight truck on local, interstate, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight routes to deliver food and related products safely and in compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. This role includes professional interaction with customers, vendors, and co-workers, requiring coordination to address inquiries efficiently. The driver will also work collaboratively within the department and contribute to organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities:
– Conduct all mandatory safety checks (pre/post-trip), including inspections of the tractor/truck and trailer as per DOT regulations, ensuring compliance with company safety standards.
– Adhere to all DOT regulations and company driving policies.
– Immediately report any safety hazards observed and verify the secure loading of freight.
– Perform a count check of items and review customer invoices for accuracy before loading.
– Maneuver the tractor to the loading dock and attach preloaded trailers as required.
– Drive along predetermined routes to deliver customer orders, unloading products to designated areas.
– Perform damage control checks on items, utilizing scanning methods, and communicate with supervisors regarding order issues in accordance with company policies.
– Validate deliveries with customers by obtaining necessary signatures and, when required, handle cash transactions.
– Manage customer returns and ensure that all trailers are securely locked and stored.
– Document all necessary information in logbooks in accordance with Federal DOT, state, and company regulations.
– Maintain cleanliness in the tractor, loading dock area, and trailers, securing all equipment and completing paperwork at the shift’s end.
– Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
– High School Diploma/GED or its equivalent.
– A minimum of 6 months of commercial driving experience.
– Valid CDL-A license.
– Compliance with state licensing and certification requirements (where applicable).
– Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past 3 years.
– Successfully pass a post-offer drug test and criminal background check.
– Complete a road test.
– Possess or be able to obtain a valid current DOT Health Card.
– Ability to hand-lift products and employ equipment such as two-wheelers and lift gates to manage freight, which may range from 10 to 35 pounds and occasionally up to 90 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications:
– High School Diploma/GED or its equivalent.
– At least 1 year of experience in the foodservice distribution industry.
– Familiarity with onboard computer and electronic log systems (e.g., PeopleNet).
