Lutheran Social Services of Central Ohio is currently seeking a full-time Medical Receptionist for the LSS Health Center (formerly known as the Health Center at Faith Mission) located in Columbus, Ohio. The Health Center is dedicated to providing quality, accessible, and comprehensive care to all individuals, regardless of income or insurance status, with dignity and compassion.

As a Receptionist with Lutheran Social Services, your responsibilities will include:
– Welcoming and assisting all visitors as they enter the reception area.
– Answering incoming calls and routing them to the appropriate personnel, department, or agency.
– Enhancing patient satisfaction, optimizing provider time, and maximizing treatment room utilization by effectively scheduling appointments for various Health Center services such as medical, dental, podiatry, vision, and community partner clinics. Alongside the Health Center Manager, you will coordinate physician schedules to accommodate client availability.
– Assisting patients in completing registration and other essential paperwork, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of patient records. This includes maintaining patient accounts by acquiring, recording, and updating personal and financial information.
– Upholding patients’ rights by ensuring their understanding of clinic policies regarding privacy, informed consent, and treatment costs, while maintaining the confidentiality of all personal and financial information.
– Keeping patient appointments on schedule by notifying providers of patient arrivals, monitoring service delivery against the schedule, and communicating any delays to providers.
– Supporting patient access and attendance through appointment confirmation calls, follow-ups on no-shows, accommodating walk-in appointments, and ensuring patient transportation or technological access.
– Ensuring all documentation and resources are available to meet patient communication needs, such as translation services and disability accommodations.
– Filing and retrieving patient records to ensure the availability of treatment information, responding to record requests from external providers in compliance with applicable privacy laws.
– Maintaining patient accounts and records through diligent scanning, filing, and data entry into Health Center databases, along with other general office and administrative duties.
– Operating the front office desk consistently during clinic business hours.
– Providing comfort to patients by anticipating their anxieties, answering inquiries, notifying them of delays, and maintaining a welcoming reception area.
– Collaborating with Health Center staff to ensure the high-quality delivery of health-related services and actively participating in quality assurance reporting.
– Assisting patients in distress by responding effectively to emergencies.
– Upholding operational standards by adhering to policies and procedures, and reporting areas needing improvement.
– Maintaining a professional demeanor with residents, donors, volunteers, and colleagues, and conducting oneself in accordance with the values and policies of LSS.
– Performing additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications for the Receptionist position with Lutheran Social Services include:
– A High School Diploma or equivalent, with certification as a Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA) preferred.
– A degree or diploma coupled with two years of experience in a medical office front desk setting, or a minimum of five years of experience in medical office front desk administration.
