Job description:
The Network/System Administrator II (Net/Sys Admin II) will primarily support Special Access Programs (SAPs) for various Department of Defense (DoD) agencies, including the HQ Air Force and the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD). This role entails providing comprehensive day-to-day support for Collateral, Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI), and SAP activities.
Key responsibilities include:
– Installing, maintaining, auditing, and supporting a secure Microsoft Windows network environment, along with limited web and data application services.
– Managing internet applications and protocols such as IP, TCP, HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, and SSL.
– Maintaining file servers, firewalls, network access, security monitoring systems, and required system documentation.
– Collaborating with local customers to deliver IT support and swiftly resolve issues.
– Analyzing and troubleshooting system anomalies to ensure optimal equipment performance.
– Conducting periodic maintenance activities, hardware upgrades, firmware updates, and system configuration changes.
– Performing scheduled tape backups and managing the data backup library, which includes the storage of tapes, disks, and other magnetic media both on-site and at off-site storage facilities.
– Participating in planning and requirements meetings with IT staff, Program Managers, and clients as needed.
– Preparing systems for operational use and supporting operational tests.
– Providing technical guidance as required.
Experience requirements include:
– A minimum of 3 years of related experience with a strong background in SAPs.
Educational qualifications:
– A Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience (4 years) is preferred.
Certifications:
– IAT Level II (such as Security+ CE, CCNA Security, etc.) is required.
Security Clearance:
– A Top Secret/SCI clearance is mandatory, and the candidate must be able to obtain a TS/SCI with a Counterintelligence polygraph.
Additional requirements:
– A thorough knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2/2012 R2, Microsoft Exchange Server 2003/2010, and the administration of Microsoft Windows 7/10 operating systems, along with associated hardware.
– A working knowledge of CISCO networking, switching, and virtualization technologies.
– Familiarity with Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN) technologies and data backup methodologies, including communication security (COMSEC) integration.
– Understanding of the Risk Management Framework, Common Criteria, and System Security Policy pertaining to Assessment and Authorization (A&A).
– Relevant experience with PL1 & PL2 systems; knowledge of PL3 & PL4 cross-domain solutions is advantageous.
– Familiarity with security policies and guiding documentation.
– Proven ability to thrive in a dynamic environment and interact effectively with various DoD personnel and industry partners.
– Competency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).
– A high degree of originality, creativity, and initiative, with minimal supervision required.
– Willingness to travel within the organizational area of responsibility (AOR), potentially involving extensive travel via both air and ground transportation.
The anticipated salary range for this position is $83,429 – $105,915, depending on experience, geographical location, and contractual requirements. This range is not a guarantee of compensation.
Scheduled weekly hours are 40, with required travel estimated at 10-25%. The position primarily requires on-site presence in Dayton, OH, with additional work locations as necessary.
