Job description:
Brown and Caldwell is seeking a Senior-Level Project Manager with extensive experience in managing and executing projects within the water industry, specifically focused on water and wastewater systems. This pivotal role will be integral to our business operations and client relations in the Midwest, based at our Detroit office. Working closely with the local office leader, Client Service Managers, Technical Service Leaders, and Marketing Managers, you will be responsible for strengthening and expanding client relationships, aligning Brown and Caldwell’s solutions with client needs, and leading project teams to ensure high-quality project delivery.

Key Responsibilities:
– Oversee design management and project management for water-related projects in the Desert Area.
– Focus project assignments on water/wastewater treatment and conveyance initiatives.
– Lead project teams in the planning and design of engineering projects, and coordinate special planning, economic, and engineering studies.
– Direct the work of drafters and designers while ensuring effective cross-discipline coordination.
– Supervise and delegate tasks to technical staff and engineers, while providing oversight for their work.
– Mentor and coach junior engineers and designers to foster professional growth.
– Collaborate with the sales team to identify project opportunities, and contribute to the business development process by developing proposal content, including scopes and fee structures.
– Assist in the creation of technical memoranda, reports, drawings, specifications, and various contract documents.
– Provide support for construction projects, offering office and field engineering services, including submittal review, contract document interpretation, and inspection as needed.
– This position requires local presence in Phoenix to meet client needs in the surrounding area, though remote work from the office is not mandatory at this time.

Desired Qualifications:
– A Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, or a related field is required.
– 5 to 15 years of experience in municipal engineering and consulting is preferred.
– Experience should encompass site and facility layouts, wastewater conveyance/treatment, and water supply transmission design.
– Proven project management capabilities are essential.
– A Professional Engineer (PE) License is required.
– Experience in marketing, proposal writing, management, and public presentations is advantageous.
– Prior supervisory experience is a plus.
– Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required, with a demonstrated ability to conduct effective presentations and prepare detailed reports and documents.
– Flexibility to work in other service areas such as infrastructure, wastewater, and/or water is preferred, but notmandatory.

Salary Range: The anticipated starting salary for this role is dependent on the employee’s primary work location, with variations based on skills, experience, and education. These anticipated pay ranges are subject to future modifications. For Location A, the range is $145,000 – $199,000.
