Job description:

This position serves as the receptionist for the Legal Division, where the employee is responsible for creating and maintaining a welcoming and professional front desk environment. The receptionist will assess visitor and caller needs and promptly direct them to the appropriate staff for assistance. Additionally, the role involves responding to inquiries about the services provided by the Legal Division, coordinating the delivery of office documents, and maintaining electronic records related to these deliveries. The employee will also perform word processing and various clerical tasks as required and will serve as a backup to the Lead Legislative Aide. This is a full-time role with in-office hours from Monday to Friday.

The LSB Legal Division offers nonpartisan legal counsel, bill drafting, law compilation and publishing, and other essential services that support the lawmaking process for the Michigan Legislature.

Minimum Qualifications and Skills:

  • High school diploma or GED certificate is required.
  • A minimum of one year of clerical experience involving public contact is preferred.
  • Proficiency in the use of personal computers, particularly with Microsoft Word and database management, is essential.
  • Experience in database and records management is required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills are necessary.
  • Previous experience with multi-line phone systems is highly desirable.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment is essential.
  • The candidate must be willing and able to work occasional overtime and irregular hours as necessary.
