Job description:

Position operates one or more pieces of manufacturing equipment, which may encompass tasks such as transporting raw materials to the production line, as well as filling, capping, sealing, labeling, or packaging products. The incumbent is responsible for removing any damaged products or supplies as necessary and managing production, packaging, and flavor changeovers. Adherence to required product inspection processes is essential. The role involves basic troubleshooting and minor repairs to optimize the efficiency of production equipment.

This position entails physically demanding tasks, including lifting, carrying, and pushing or pulling cases weighing between 20 to 45 pounds frequently over an extended work period. The incumbent will primarily walk or stand throughout the shift and may be required to stoop, crawl, and crouch under conveyors. Availability to work on weekends and/or holidays may also be required.

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Operate and monitor production line(s) to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Relocate or adjust materials and finished products to maintain effective workflow.
  • Ensure the quality of packages and products.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance.
  • Operate all manufacturing equipment, including new technologies, safely and efficiently.
  • Clean equipment and work areas before, during, and after shifts.
  • Maintain a clean work environment through diligent housekeeping practices.
  • Facilitate timely repairs to the production line in collaboration with maintenance personnel.
  • Record daily downtime and machine operations accurately.
  • Collaborate effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Exhibit regular, reliable, and predictable attendance.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.

HELPFUL EXPERIENCE:

  • Familiarity with high-speed production lines, including experience with high output and high-performance equipment in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in handling pallets, including operating a forklift and product stacking/bundling.
  • Experience with operating packing machines, specifically stacking, bundling, and wrapping products.
  • Knowledge in operating filler machines to ensure the correct mix of products and operating production computers.
  • Experience with palletizers, managing product changeovers and building pallets.
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematics to understand machine operations and production flow.
  • Capability to interpret production schedules and requirements effectively.
  • Computer proficiency in a manufacturing setting, including line speed management, troubleshooting, and responding to faults and alarms.
  • Knowledge of sanitization practices and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) in a food production environment, including risk identification.
  • Experience with basic mechanical repairs, including handling jams and making adjustments to equipment.
  • Familiarity with preventative maintenance practices to inspect and maintain equipment and detect potential issues proactively.
