Graham Packaging Company is seeking a dedicated Machine Operator for our Minster, OH location. This position is a night shift opportunity, operating from approximately 7:00 pm to 7:00 am.
The Machine Operator will be responsible for the operation of several plastic blow molding machines, including associated in-line equipment, while ensuring that production goals are met safely, efficiently, and to high-quality standards. Key responsibilities include:
– Adhering to and enforcing all established safety, health, quality, GMP, and company policies and procedures.
– Actively participating in continuous quality improvement initiatives and related activities as assigned.
– Operating a series of plastic blow molding machines and auxiliary equipment to produce containers safely and to high quality specifications.
– Assisting in mold, insert, and color changes on the production line as needed.
– Conducting basic processing operations to enhance machine efficiency and minimize scrap.
– Performing additional tasks associated with utility positions during slower periods or as required.
– Monitoring HDPE/PET resin, dryers, material handling, and color systems to maintain optimal processing conditions.
– Conducting timely quality checks of products according to established standards.
– Assisting other operators and maintenance staff with mechanical repairs.
– Carrying out assigned preventive maintenance tasks.
– Maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
– Completing and submitting all required documentation in an organized and timely manner.
– Coordinating with the Production Shift Supervisor to align production support staff with line objectives.
– Verifying material usage in accordance with standards.
– Performing minor troubleshooting and programming adjustments on the line, while promptly notifying supervisors of significant issues.
– Operating equipment to minimize waste and maximize the efficient use of regrind, purges, and scraps within customer specifications.
– Properly identifying and processing regrind and chunks produced.
– Transmitting relevant processing information to the incoming shift and assisting other operators as necessary.
– Contributing to the training of new operators.
– Occasional travel may be required.
