Job description:

This position serves as a pivotal link between Supply Chain and Commercial teams, with a key responsibility for managing and executing a production schedule that not only meets customer demands but also optimizes factory efficiency. The Production Scheduler will be tasked with developing, communicating, and facilitating this schedule, ensuring a seamless operational flow within production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate timely shipments to customers through an effective production schedule, organizing and optimizing products to enhance factory efficiency while adhering to delivery commitments.
  • Ensure that planned orders are completed to support on-time delivery, aligning with site Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Manage the introduction of additional products to the schedule as necessitated by rejected materials or urgent customer orders.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for maintaining the integrity and organization of the schedule post-submission to relevant departments.
  • Communicate the production schedule to the Production, Commercial, and Columbus Management teams, ensuring transparency and prompt updates regarding any schedule changes.
  • Continuously monitor factory performance and the status of each batch to optimize the flow of products through the facility, making necessary adjustments to the schedule and ensuring all materials and equipment are prepared for production.
  • Actively develop and coordinate production schedules on a daily or weekly basis to meet site goals. This includes forecasting, expediting, and managing immediate changes while balancing multiple systems and demands. Create and maintain master schedules to meet production targets and customer requirements.
  • Uphold the quality system by adhering to its principles, quality statement, quality manual, and associated procedures.
  • Participate in the Columbus Safety Journey, ensuring compliance with all safety regulations (both AkzoNobel and regulatory). Engage in necessary training and committees, including Department Safety, Plant Safety, Behavioural Safety, Housekeeping Audit Teams, and Continuous Improvement initiatives.
  • Embrace the "Golden Principle" of intervening to halt operations if conditions or behaviors are deemed unsafe.
  • Contribute to Continuous Improvement efforts in Nashville, focusing on process enhancement, inventory management, scheduling efficiencies, increased production output, accurate delivery timelines, and real-time information sharing.
  • Collaborate with the Logistics Specialist and Plant during inventory cycle counts. Provide monthly updates regarding quarter-end inventory and forecasts for finished goods, including significant change analyses.
  • Work closely with Production Supervisors, Demand Analysts, and Logistics Specialists to ensure optimized site performance, working with managers to implement process improvements.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as designated by the Production Manager or Site Manager to contribute to the overall success of Akzo Nobel Coatings Inc.

Job Requirements

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with 3-5 years of experience in manufacturing, specifically in raw material scheduling, customer service, or inventory control.
  • In-depth knowledge of effective supply chain performance, including supply planning, customer service, and asset management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, and MS Teams, along with familiarity with SAP and Material Requirements Planning (MRP).
  • Strong customer focus with attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage effectively across all organizational levels.
  • Solid organizational and time management abilities.
  • Capacity to work independently and collaboratively within a team-oriented environment.
  • Proven ability to operate under pressure in a deadline-driven setting.
  • Fluency in English.

Preferred:

  • Experience in supply chain management.
  • Certification or experience in Continuous Improvement methodologies.
