Job description:
Job Summary
The primary responsibility of this role is to determine the quantity and order dates for raw and packaging materials necessary to support the master production schedule. This includes initiating supplier schedules and material releases, troubleshooting supplier quality and service issues, and actively participating in and supporting ConAgra’s SAP Best Practice Group. In the absence of this individual, coverage will be provided.

Position Responsibilities
– Schedule and purchase raw materials, packaging, and commodities from various suppliers.
– Ensure that the production facility maintains adequate material availability while adhering to established inventory levels.
– Collaborate with corporate purchasing to forecast future requirements based on production outlook, thereby supporting long-range buying strategies.
– Keep corporate buyers informed about vendor relations and any supply-related issues.
– Oversee the inventory of ingredients, packaging, and commodities, managing the risks associated with obsolescence and supply shortages.
– Manage material version changes and run-out situations.
– Coordinate material requirements for new product rollouts.
– Facilitate supplier quality and service enhancement initiatives.
– Resolve discrepancies in vendor invoices.
– Work closely with inbound transportation to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.
– Coordinate the transfer of packaging and ingredients between plants to prevent any disruption to the supply chain or production schedules.
– Administer corporate contract agreements regarding order quantities, price breaks, lead times, and transportation.
– Provide prompt information and reports to the Supply Planner.
– Troubleshoot daily quantity issues.
– Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to obtain necessary certifications (e.g., Kosher).
– Maintain vendor relationships through one-on-one meetings, participation in seminars, and conferences.
– Conduct materials reviews, which include evaluating major components, lead times, service level agreement development, and cost analysis.
– Support the SAP Best Practice team.
– Lead initiatives aimed at improving Raw/Pack and WIP workflows within the LSC team.
– Facilitate and effectively manage meetings within a multi-functional team environment.
– Perform data maintenance for inventory control systems that track the status of purchase orders, inventory levels, and production requirements.
– Serve as a backup for the Supply Planner role.
– Carry out other related duties as assigned.

Position Qualifications
– Bachelor’s degree in Business or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
– A minimum of three years of experience in Materials Requirement Planning (MRP) or production purchasing, preferably within the manufacturing sector.
– Ability to read, analyze, and interpret procedures; effectively communicate both verbally and in writing with individuals at all organizational levels.
– Strong PC skills and proficiency in various applications, including Microsoft Office; SAP knowledge is a plus.
– Competency in problem definition, data collection, factual analysis, and drawing valid conclusions.
– Capability to interpret various types of technical information in both mathematical and narrative forms and handle abstract and concrete variables.
– Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
– Strong organizational capabilities with the ability to manage and follow through on multiple projects.
– Extreme attention to detail.
– Capacity to multi-task and prioritize effectively.
– Proficiency in troubleshooting problems.
– Ability to mentor and train others.
