Job description:

The Hospice Aide is responsible for maintaining a clean and sanitary environment to ensure the well-being and care of our patients. This individual will also collaborate with department heads to ensure effective housekeeping services are delivered throughout the center. Additionally, this role may provide support as a Hospice Aide-House Mother as needed.

Position Specific Responsibilities

  • Responds promptly to patient call buttons.
  • Adheres to cleaning and service protocols established by the Hospice Director of Clinical Services.
  • Monitors inventory levels and informs supervisors of supply requirements.
  • Ensures assigned patients receive dedicated attention, fostering a clean, odor-free, and organized environment.
  • Assists families with their needs, including providing support and care during post-mortem situations.
  • Performs laundry services for linens and patient clothing.
  • Sorts, counts, folds, and manages linens as required.
  • Restocks supplies, including drinking glasses and writing materials.
  • Ensures all bathroom supplies are replenished as necessary.
  • Completes all assigned tasks in a timely manner.
  • Undertakes additional responsibilities as assigned.

Education and/or Experience

  • A high school diploma or GED is highly preferred.
  • Prior experience or training in a related field is preferred, ranging from one to three months. An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.

Skills

  • Mathematical Skills: Proficiency in basic arithmetic operations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages.
  • Language Skills: Competence in reading and interpreting general business documents, professional publications, and technical procedures. Proficient in writing reports, business correspondence, and manuals. Capable of presenting information effectively and responding to inquiries from various stakeholders. Certifications, Licenses, and Registrations

  • Certification as a Nursing Assistant is highly preferred.
  • In states where licensure is not mandated (AL, AZ, CT, GA, IA, IL, KS, LA, MA, ME, MI, MS, MT, NM, OH, OK, PA, SC, TN, TX, WV), candidates must meet one of the following criteria:
    • Possess a valid aide license/certification; or
    • Complete a state-approved nurse aide training program and have been continuously employed in that capacity for the past 24 months.
  • Current CPR certification is required.
