The Human Resources Assistant classification encompasses a non-supervisory role focused on organizing and facilitating office management activities across the major divisions of the department. Within this classification, the levels I-IV reflect varying degrees of responsibility, with Human Resources Assistants leading and performing general office support tasks for Employee Services, Classification & Compensation, Human Resource Management, Human Resource Information Systems, Labor Relations, Policy & Planning, Operations, Recruiting and Talent Development, and Performance Management. This position necessitates familiarity with organizational procedures, techniques, and practices along with proficiency in the use of various office equipment, such as fax machines, photocopiers, scanners, videoconferencing systems, and telephone systems, as well as the ability to create and edit documents.

The Human Resources Assistant role is vital in enhancing the efficiency of the organization by undertaking a broad array of office support duties. This includes serving as the primary clerical and administrative support within the Human Resources unit and overseeing all day-to-day administrative activities critical to organizational success. The nature of the tasks carried out depends on the specific needs of the organization served. Human Resource Assistants engage collaboratively with Employee Services, Classification & Compensation, Human Resource Management, Human Resource Information Systems, Labor Relations, Policy & Planning, Operations, Recruiting and Talent Development, and Performance Management, significantly reducing the administrative burden on the management team. Probationary Period
