In this role, you will be tasked with building, maintaining, and optimizing the IT Operations Management (ITOM) module. Your responsibilities will involve overseeing discovery, the Configuration Management Database (CMDB), and related processes within ServiceNow. You will ensure accurate data governance, streamline Alert and Event Management workflows, and execute comprehensive service mapping for both on-premise and cloud environments. The engineer will play a pivotal role in driving the integration of observability tools, ensuring alignment with ITIL and Common Service Data Model (CSDM) frameworks, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance IT service visibility, performance, and incident response.
Key Responsibilities:
- Integrate CSDM principles into service lifecycle management to enhance service modeling and dependency mapping, enabling proactive incident, problem, and change management.
- Lead the Discovery process and manage the CMDB to maintain accurate, up-to-date records of all IT assets, configurations, and interdependencies across the organization.
- Implement and optimize service mapping to visualize relationships among hardware, software, and infrastructure components, thereby improving service visibility and incident resolution.
- Activate CMDB use cases such as operational change management (OCM) and event management, aimed at enhancing service performance and response times.
- Define and automate best practices for managing CMDB records and processes, focusing on both cloud and on-premises environments to improve efficiency and scalability.
- Collaborate on ITOM and Event Management processes, ensuring seamless integration and routing of events from upstream monitoring tools (such as cloud monitoring tools, Dynatrace, Splunk) into ServiceNow for real-time incident detection and resolution.
- Enable Predictive AIOps and Event Management to foster self-healing capabilities.
- Ensure CMDB governance by defining, documenting, and enforcing data quality standards and policies for both automated and manual updates.
- Interface with stakeholders to develop acceptance criteria for features and user stories, ensuring those criteria are met.
- Coordinate new product reviews and pilot tests in collaboration with other IT members and stakeholders.
- Lead ITOM production support and maintenance, including planning and executing patches.
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated expertise in building and managing a ServiceNow CMDB, with extensive experience in modules related to CMDB, ITOM, and Service Mapping, focusing on data modeling, configuration management, and governance best practices.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- In-depth knowledge of ITOM and Event Management processes, proven experience in implementing and optimizing IT Operations Management (ITOM) and Event Management within ServiceNow, emphasizing automation and proactive monitoring.
- Strong familiarity with IT monitoring and observability best practices, including integrating tools like Dynatrace and Splunk for effective incident management across hybrid IT environments.
- Solid understanding of ITIL and ITSM frameworks, including processes such as Incident, Problem, Change, and Service Catalog Management, and their integration with ServiceNow.
- Practical experience with CSDM principles to ensure accurate mapping and alignment of business services, applications, and infrastructure within the CMDB.
- Experience with cloud platforms and hybrid IT environments, particularly in integrating cloud services (SaaS, Azure, GCP) with on-premise resources.
- Familiarity with third-party integrations, using Service Graph, API, and Flow Designer for seamless data flow across the IT ecosystem.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with enterprise observability tools, such as Dynatrace, Azure Monitor, Elastic, or Splunk.
- Proficiency in RPA tools such as UIPath, PowerAutomate, or ServiceNow RPA.
- Relevant industry certifications (e.g., ServiceNow, Dynatrace).
