Job description:

The Lead Grill Cook will play a pivotal role in the supervision of the Fore Star Grill at Pheasant Run Golf Club. This position entails overseeing staff, managing schedules, and handling ordering and inventory control. The Lead Grill Cook is responsible for the preparation and direction of food services, ensuring compliance with all relevant sanitation, health, and personal hygiene regulations, while adhering to established food production standards and procedures. Additionally, this role involves the effective use of facility supplies and equipment to minimize loss, waste, and fraud.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure food is prepared according to recipes and served at the appropriate temperature and presentation, meeting all specifications and standards set by management.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety of the facility and all kitchen equipment.
  • Monitor inventory of all beverage cart products regularly.
  • Uphold Health Department and Township standards consistently.
  • Perform quality checks on food presentations at scheduled intervals.
  • Organize, train, and manage staff to ensure compliance with food handling, alcohol service, and cleaning procedures.
  • Review food freshness and strictly follow proper food storage protocols.
  • Address guest complaints with professionalism and composure.
  • Establish a priority of excellent guest service and satisfaction through personal example and follow-through.
  • Oversee training, assistance, supervision, and scheduling of all Food & Beverage staff, maintaining appropriate staffing levels for shifts.
  • Manage all aspects of inventory control and management.
  • Operate large-volume cooking equipment, such as grills, deep fryers, and griddles.
  • Support wait staff with customer service as needed.
  • Prepare ingredients for cooking, including washing, cutting, and organizing food.
  • Clean, stock, and restock workstations and display cases as necessary.
  • Order and accept deliveries of food and non-food supplies.
  • Coordinate kitchen operations with golf personnel to meet customer expectations and timelines.
  • Ensure that proper closing procedures for the kitchen are followed.
  • Adhere to all regulations, laws, and procedures regarding alcohol handling and service.
  • Pick up supplies as needed and manage special events effectively.
  • Collaborate daily with pro shop and cart staff during events to promote a cohesive team atmosphere.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Essential Qualifications:

  • A minimum of two years of experience in cooking and food preparation is required.
  • ServSafe Food & Alcohol Safety certification is preferred; candidates must obtain certification within 30 days of employment.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to initiate responsibilities independently.

  • Flexible availability is required, including afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • A current, valid Michigan Driver’s License with a solid driving record that does not present liability concerns is mandatory.
