Job description:

We are pleased to announce an exciting opportunity for a Franchise Business Consultant based in or around the Grand Rapids Metro Area, Michigan.

The Franchise Business Consultant is responsible for supporting a district of franchised restaurants, offering guidance and coaching to franchisees and operational teams to achieve both short and long-term company goals. This role requires leveraging extensive knowledge of restaurant operations to provide counsel, assistance, and strategic guidance to franchise owners/operators, aiming to enhance sales, profitability, operating standards, and systems while ensuring exceptional customer satisfaction. The Consultant will ensure adherence to IDQ policies and system standards, build strong relationships with DMA chairs and key franchisee leaders, and engage functional experts as necessary. Additionally, this position may involve providing support to other functions as required.

Planning Responsibilities:

  • Effectively implement and execute the Worldwide Operations Business Plan for the designated district, creating a comprehensive business plan that integrates marketing, operations, training, development, and supply chain strategies.
  • Collaborate with franchise owners to develop and implement effective business plans that align with American Dairy Queen’s (ADQ) Operations and Marketing Plan, ensuring they encompass specific goals and actionable strategies.

Consulting Responsibilities:

  • Provide guidance in developing and managing marketing performance through strategic partnerships with relevant departments, vendors, and franchisees.
  • Position franchisees for consistent achievement of operational excellence in shift management, food safety, quality, service, cleanliness, repair and maintenance, and ambiance, as outlined by the Operations Business Plan and ADQ standards.
  • Offer impactful counsel to foster optimal financial health among franchisees.
  • Collaborate with ADQ staff to support new and existing franchisees in establishing effective development, reinvestment, and renewal strategies.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Support other departments/functions as necessary.
  • Assist with new store openings as required.
  • Complete ad hoc projects as needed.

Position Requirements:

  • Availability for occasional evening and weekend hours to meet franchisee business needs.
  • Valid ServSafe certification.
  • Frequent communication (over 4 hours a day) via telephone and email.
  • Ability to travel overnight for franchisee and staff meetings/visits approximately two weeks per month.
  • Capability to drive an automobile for meetings/visits, with the potential necessity of sitting in a vehicle for up to 8 hours per day while traveling; must be insurable by the company’s insurance provider.
  • Ability to travel by airplane as needed.
  • Physical capability to stand on concrete or tiled floors for up to 8 hours per day when visiting franchise locations.
  • No food or beverage allergies that would impede tasting products or working in a Dairy Queen environment.
  • A clean driving record is essential.

Qualifications:

  • In-depth knowledge of the Restaurant Industry, particularly Quick Service Restaurants (QSR).
  • Comprehensive understanding of restaurant operations and marketing, finance, training, and human resources.
  • Strong organizational skills with keen attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Creative problem-solver capable of generating innovative ideas across diverse business units.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to articulate concepts clearly to various audiences, both in written and verbal forms.
  • Excellent customer service orientation for both internal and external clients.
  • Proficient in managing multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong relationship-building skills to foster mutually beneficial interactions with clients and stakeholders.
  • Ability to operate efficiently in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.

The national base salary range for this position is $92,800 – $113,680, with eligibility for a bonus. This range reflects the targeted hiring rate across all U.S. locations, while individual compensation is determined by job-related skills, work location, and relevant education or experience.

Work Environment:
