Job description:
This position is not classified as a Civil Service role. Employees of the Detroit Water and Sewerage Department (DWSD) are subject to the stipulations outlined in Court Orders issued by the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, Southern Division, Case No. 77-71100, concerning specific terms and conditions of employment. Internal candidates do not possess reversion rights.
The Team Leader is tasked with supervising, guiding, directing, and training personnel within the Maintenance and Repair functional unit of DWSD. This role involves managing project workflows, assigning tasks, and prioritizing assignments. The Team Leader is also accountable for the timely completion of all required reports at local, state, federal, and DWSD levels.
Essential Job Functions:
- Maximize the productivity of the team.
- Manage assigned annual departmental budget items.
- Maintain accurate records and prepare necessary reports, including logs and digital files.
- Assist in training departmental staff and foster their development.
- Implement ongoing safety and injury prevention programs.
- Represent the team in various meetings.
- Prepare and uphold Standard Operating Procedures.
- Conduct performance evaluations for assigned personnel.
- Fulfill shift responsibilities, which include daytime, evening, night, weekend, and holiday assignments.
- Utilize personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
- Adhere to established security and safety policies and procedures while performing job functions.

Required Education and Experience:

- At least seven to ten (7-10) years of supervisory experience.
- Possession of an S4 License.
