Job description:
Under general supervision, this position is designed to provide comprehensive training in the management of a small driver team and non-traditional shifts, including nights and weekends. The Manager Trainee will ensure the safe and timely movement of freight, oversee load assignments, and deliver exemplary customer service. The role includes training on compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and entails responsibility for driver adherence to company policies.

Key Responsibilities:

– Develop and maintain positive professional relationships with drivers and reliable outside carriers to facilitate seamless carrier onboarding, reduce turnover, and enhance overall productivity.
– Step in for absent personnel as needed and participate in special projects aimed at optimizing fleet operations and enhancing profitability.
– Acquire skills in personnel management, including training and orientation for drivers and employees, as well as in assisting with internal and external (customer) systems.
– Achieve proficiency in optimizing fleet operational efficiency and profitability while making recommendations for continuous improvement, assessing key performance indicators, and preparing detailed customer-specific reports and financial analyses during face-to-face engagements at customer locations.
– Gain expertise in managing inventory, assets, and allocations of drivers to effectively balance market equipment.
– Perform various administrative functions, including payroll management, oversight of the Net-Revenue budget, driver counseling, accident investigations, documentation, resolution of payment discrepancies, and analysis of profit and loss statements.
– Oversee yard management activities, such as equipment inspections, part replacements, repairs, and coordination with maintenance to ensure timely scheduling of routine preventative maintenance and addressing safety-related mechanical concerns.
– Collaborate with drivers, customers, and company personnel to resolve service-related issues, routing difficulties, mechanical problems, and compensation disputes as they arise, including on-call situations.
– Uphold the Company’s safety culture through delivering daily safety messages, conducting monthly briefings, facilitating quarterly training, and enforcing compliance with DOT safety regulations and company policies.
– Efficiently assign loads and plan, route, and monitor freight movement to ensure safety and punctuality while meeting customer requirements and managing freight exceptions and adjustments based on evolving circumstances.

Minimum Qualification:

– High School Diploma/GED, supplemented by up to 4 years of relevant education, experience, and training; currently enrolled in a degree program with a maximum of 2 years of relevant education and experience; OR a Bachelor’s degree with the flexibility to work across multiple shifts, including nights and weekends, as needed. Willingness to travel to account, customer, and company event locations is required.

Compensation:
