We are currently seeking a full-time WAITER/WAITRESS for immediate hiring at Steelcase Inc., located at 901 44th Street Southeast, Grand Rapids, MI 49508. Please note that applications will only be accepted online.

Job Summary:

The primary responsibility of this position is to take food and beverage orders and efficiently deliver them to guests in the dining room.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide a warm and prompt greeting to guests; efficiently take food and beverage orders, adhering to established service protocols.
  • Deliver food in a timely and professional manner while maintaining safe food handling and sanitation standards; follow up to assist guests with any additional needs or requests.
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of menu items and ingredients, offering recommendations on food and drink combinations when solicited. Accommodate reasonable requests and note guest preferences. Show knowledge of specialized diets and allergens as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with kitchen staff to ensure accurate order delivery and accommodation of special requests.
  • Exhibit exceptional communication skills and maintain a cooperative demeanor while interacting with guests and staff.
  • Collect tickets and adhere to proper cash-handling procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for guests.
  • Exhibit sensitivity and confidentiality regarding any personal or medical information shared.
  • Address guest complaints and issues promptly; relay relevant information or concerns to the supervisor directly.
  • Ensure the dining area is properly set up before and after service periods, maintaining cleanliness and compliance with sanitation standards.
  • Operate a variety of equipment, including fire extinguishers, telephones, iced tea/soda machines, soup wells, and coffee machines.
  • Collaborate with staff from other departments for special events and functions.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
