Position: Universal Grinder – Euclid, Ohio

In this role, you will be responsible for setting up and operating ID, OD, and surface grinding equipment, both conventional and CNC, to achieve precise finish dimensions on a wide range of complex production and tooling parts. You may receive assistance from other operators regarding proper operational procedures and will also perform housekeeping and other job-related duties as assigned by your foreman.

Key Responsibilities:

• Set up and operate universal and surface grinders for precision grinding operations on various tools, fixtures, gauges, and parts
• Select, install, and dress grind wheels, adjusting set-ups with minimal blueprints and mathematical calculations
• Develop NC programs during setups using G & M codes
• Apply advanced knowledge of precision grinding techniques to achieve tight tolerances and superior finishes on internal, external, straight form, and tapered surfaces
• Read and interpret detailed blueprints to ascertain specifications and requirements
• Exercise vigilance and expertise to ensure correct set-up, dressing of wheels, and adherence to tool design specifications
• Utilize precision measuring instruments such as comparators and electronic gauges to inspect work
• Availability to work off shifts from 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM or 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM

Minimum Qualifications:

• A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in the set-up and operation of manual and CNC internal/external universal grinders; completion of an accredited training program will be considered
• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Competence in demonstrating grinding skills on test pieces
• Proficiency in CNC control, with the ability to edit speeds, feeds, tool offsets, and fixture offsets
• Capability to read and interpret complex blueprints, procedures, and work instructions
• Familiarity with measuring instruments such as dial bore gauges, indicator snap gauges, verniers, and .0001 micrometers
• Strong documentation and record-keeping skills
• Knowledge in developing NC programs utilizing "G" and "M" codes
• Understanding of multi-axis grinding contouring, grinding wheel dressing, and grit/size selection to maintain tight tolerances in line with blueprints

The starting hourly rate for this position in Ohio is $39.83, complemented by a comprehensive compensation package that encompasses medical, retirement, and other benefits subject to a collective bargaining agreement.
