This position will serve as the technical lead and formulation expert on-site at the Columbus plant, focusing on nutritional product manufacturing activities. Key responsibilities include troubleshooting manufacturing challenges, identifying root causes within the liquid processing department, and facilitating collaboration between Product Development and plant operations for trials, clinical batch manufacturing, and ensuring readiness for First Lot To Stock. The successful candidate will develop expertise in plant-specific manufacturing processes, striving for optimization and consistently maintaining product specifications while engaging in cost-reduction projects aimed at improving product margins and meeting quality and business excellence standards.

Key Responsibilities Include:

– Managing corrective actions related to new product introductions, including formulation, incoming raw materials, and process controls
– Independently conducting data mining and process optimization
– Leveraging advanced scientific knowledge to prioritize experimental projects
– Optimizing Clean In Place (CIP) processes and appropriately employing Design of Experiments (DOE)
– Ensuring experimental integrity through comprehensive formulation reviews
– Conducting thorough literature reviews to identify technical alternatives
– Applying advanced data analysis skills, predominantly using Excel and other analytical tools
– Producing and reviewing technical reports and documents with a high degree of technical writing proficiency
– Collaborating closely with operations and laboratory personnel, coordinating efforts with the new product information manager

Required Qualifications:

– Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Engineering, or a related field
– Strong mathematical skills and experience with formulation calculations applicable to liquid processing
– Proven ability to take on a leadership role in integrating routine responsibilities with special projects within the plant environment
– Excellent verbal and written communication skills, facilitating efficient technical exchanges among Manufacturing, R&D, and Quality Assurance teams
– In-depth knowledge of the manufacturing processes for liquid versions of Adult and Pediatric products, emphasizing nutritional, physical, and sensory attributes
– Capability to swiftly develop expertise in the Columbus plant’s liquid processing and filling lines, contributing to process improvement ideas and technical input for the Design-To-Value process
– Experience in managing project goals, defining milestones, and ensuring timely completion
– Ability to summarize data, analyze results, and formulate future experimental plans

Preferred Qualifications:

– Familiarity with data analysis software, including Excel, R statistical language, R Studio, SAS, Python 3, Power BI, Tableau, and SQL
– Proficiency with analytical tools such as Anaconda 3, Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio, Jupyter Notebook, Spyder, and InfinityQS
