Job description:
We are currently seeking to fill a BARISTA position immediately at Oakland University. The position is located at 2200 North Squirrel Rd, Rochester, MI 48309, and we are only accepting online applications. Job Summary:
As a Barista, you will be responsible for preparing and serving coffee, espresso drinks, and related food and beverage items. You will adhere to HACCP guidelines and quality food-service standards, while interacting with customers and colleagues in a friendly and professional manner.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare espresso orders for customers and catering using standardized recipes and measures.
- Accurately enter orders into the Point of Sale (POS) device and manage cash and credit card transactions.
- Maintain cleanliness in the service area by replenishing condiments, beverages, and supplies.
- Ensure optimal presentation, portion control, and appropriate serving temperatures in accordance with HACCP standards.
- Maintain sanitation and orderliness of equipment, supplies, and utensils.
- Prepare food using approved recipes and comply with production standards.
- Keep display equipment clean and free from debris during service.
- Ensure a thorough cleaning of equipment and workstation before transitioning to other tasks.
- Greet customers courteously, providing information and addressing concerns to enhance satisfaction.
- Serve customers efficiently to prevent delays in service.
- Demonstrate a thorough understanding of menu items and provide accurate descriptions to customers.
- Employ effective selling techniques to aid customers in their purchasing decisions.
- Merchandise display foods attractively in alignment with established standards.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
