Job description:

National Railroad Safety Services, Inc. (NRSS) is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Roadway Worker In Charge (RWIC) to provide comprehensive railroad flagging services for Class 1 Railroads, Regional Short Lines, Transit Systems, State Departments of Transportation, as well as Railroad Suppliers, Contractors, and Consultants. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and efficiency of railroad operations.

Required Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent.

Required Experience:
A minimum of two years’ experience with a Class 1 Railroad, Regional Short Line, Transit System, State DOT Rail Division, Railroad Supplier, Railroad Contractor, and/or Railroad Consultant, with a preference for experience within the Maintenance Of Way (MOW) Department.

Job Duties:

  • Provide effective jobsite coordination and clear communication with Dispatchers, Train Crews, other Railroad personnel, and Contractor staff.
  • Deliver comprehensive and concise job briefings with all personnel on each site.
  • Enforce compliance with all Railroad, State, and Federal policies.
  • Identify rule violations and address them in alignment with relevant policies.
  • Ensure adherence to Contractor training requirements.
  • Submit detailed daily field reports documenting Contractor and Railroad activities.
  • Uphold On-Track Safety protocols in accordance with 49 CFR 214 Federal Regulations for various railroad entities.

Work Environment:
This position is primarily field-based.
