The Organic Prep Team Lead will be responsible for the efficient operation of the section, ensuring that work is completed on time and with high accuracy while minimizing waste and maintaining staff morale. This role encompasses overseeing section staff, ensuring timely and accurate task completion, and ensuring compliance with the Quality Procedures Manual.

Key Responsibilities:
– Oversee and manage staff within the section.
– Maintain an acceptable turnaround of tasks and adhere to holding times.
– Ensure all operations within the section comply with the Quality Procedures Manual, staying updated on any methodological changes.
– Prioritize work tasks received for the section.
– Train and develop section staff to enhance their competencies.
– Ensure the accuracy of results and conduct quality control procedures.
– Monitor extraction instrumentation performance, identifying deviations from specification and notifying the Organics Supervisor promptly.
– Maintain detailed documentation of samples, solvents, standards, and preparation method logs.
– Investigate and resolve any anomalies reported for QC and test samples.
– Perform housekeeping duties as required.
– Manage consumable stock necessary for tasks performed and carry out other assigned duties.

Position Requirements:
– A Bachelor’s degree is preferred; an Associate degree is required.
– 0 to 3 years of laboratory experience is preferred.
– Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
– Commitment to maintaining laboratory quality standards that meet or exceed the established QC targets.
– Strong organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
– Ensure adherence to equipment repair, maintenance, and calibration schedules (e.g., ovens, balances).
– Assess QA/QC audit results and implement necessary improvements.
– Proficiency in computer skills, particularly Microsoft Office.
– Ability to take initiative in corrective actions and assist coworkers to meet deadlines.
– Capable of performing effectively under pressure, particularly in high sample volume environments with tight turnaround times.
– Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
– Capability to utilize or learn the Laboratory Information Management System.
