Job description:
The Hearing Care Coordinator (HCC) plays a vital role in collaborating with the clinical staff to ensure patients receive exceptional care and service. By partnering with on-site Hearing Care Professionals, the HCC supports referring physicians and patients throughout their healthcare journey. Responsibilities include scheduling appointments, verifying insurance benefits, and addressing various support needs within the clinic.
As a Hearing Care Coordinator, your key responsibilities will include:
- Welcoming patients with a positive and professional demeanor.
- Initiating outbound calls to current and former patients to schedule follow-up hearing tests, consultations, and weekly evaluations for the clinic.
- Collecting and organizing patient intake forms while maintaining accurate patient files and notes.
- Scheduling and confirming patient appointments.
- Completing benefit checks and obtaining authorizations for each patient’s insurance.
- Providing first-level support to patients, addressing inquiries, managing check-ins/outs, and processing payments.
- Conducting repairs under the direct supervision of a licensed Hearing Care Professional.
- Preparing bank deposits and compiling daily reports for the finance department.
- Demonstrating general sales knowledge for accessories and patient support.
- Processing and verifying patient orders, receiving all orders, and entering information into the system.
- Cleaning and maintaining equipment and instruments.
- Submitting requests for equipment and facility needs.
- Performing general office duties, including cleaning.
- Managing inventory, monitoring stock levels, and submitting supply orders as required.
- Assisting with event planning and logistics for at least one community outreach event each month.
Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required; an associate’s degree is preferred.
Industry/Product Knowledge:
- Prior experience or knowledge of hearing aids is advantageous.
Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong relationship-building skills with patients, physicians, and clinical staff.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations.
- Experience with EMR/EHR systems is a plus.
Work Experience:
- A minimum of 2 years in a healthcare environment is preferred.
- Previous customer service experience is mandatory.
