Our Carthage location has a longstanding history within the community, having established our presence in 2007. We are seeking a passionate community leader who is committed to the economic empowerment of individuals and will champion our credit union’s philosophy of "people helping people."
Leadership experience is essential for this role, as you will be responsible for guiding, developing, and coaching an internal team to deliver our products and services in a welcoming and efficient manner. In addition, you will serve as a prominent leader within the community, forging connections and promoting the mission, vision, and values of the credit union.
While experience in the financial sector is preferred, we are prepared to provide training to the right candidate in order to serve our existing members effectively and to help the Carthage branch achieve its utmost potential. Given the diverse needs of the community, proficiency in Spanish is also desirable.
Position Purpose: The Branch Manager will oversee branch operations and ensure compliance with regulations. This role entails managing the staffing and scheduling of all direct reports, while providing direction to branch staff regarding operational and regulatory procedures. A key focus of this position is to build, coach, develop, and motivate a team dedicated to delivering exemplary member service throughout all interactions. Successful candidates will demonstrate effective communication skills, both in person and in writing, and thrive in a fast-paced environment that promotes collaboration across different branches and departments.
Essential Functions and Basic Duties:
- Assume responsibility for branch operations and compliance, ensuring alignment with established policies and regulatory requirements while coordinating effectively with other departments.
- Ensure the security of the branch, responding to alarms and ensuring that staff are well-trained in security protocols and robbery procedures.
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of credit union products and services, actively promoting offerings to meet members’ financial needs through account management and problem resolution.
- Process loan requests through member interviews, application analysis, and document management, adhering to lending policies and limits.
- Oversee the proper maintenance and general upkeep of branch facilities, ensuring a clean and secure working environment.
- Maintain up-to-date branch procedures in accordance with operational standards.
- Promote a member-focused approach, addressing needs and concerns swiftly and effectively.
- Manage branch expenses, seeking opportunities for cost reduction.
- Communicate activities and challenges to management, providing input for policy adjustments, improved member service, and increased account retention.
- Collaborate with Business Development staff and credit union management to meet or exceed branch goals consistent with the strategic business plan.
- Provide support by filling in for branch personnel and other branch managers as necessary.
Supervision:
- Participate in the recruitment, interviewing, hiring, training, and development of branch staff, ensuring high-quality hiring decisions are made.
- Coordinate branch staff scheduling effectively.
- Actively coach and motivate branch employees to enhance the member experience.
- Ensure comprehensive training for branch staff across all operational aspects.
- Conduct regular team meetings to share information, provide coaching, and discuss procedural changes.
- Track employee performance, conduct annual evaluations, and maintain accurate performance records while addressing any required corrective actions per established policies.
Performance Measurements:
- Branch targets for loans, new accounts, and service delivery are achieved while maintaining budgetary compliance and identifying efficiencies.
- Staff performance is optimal, with a consistently high level of member service.

Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional college coursework in business or finance is preferred.
Required Knowledge:
- In-depth knowledge of credit union products and services.
- Understanding of credit union operations and philosophy.
- Familiarity with legal and regulatory requirements relevant to credit unions.
Experience Required:
- A minimum of two to three years of relevant experience in a financial institution, with supervisory experience preferred.
