Position Purpose:
Food and food service delivery drivers play an essential role in our nation’s food supply chain. They ensure that customer orders are delivered on time and in proper condition, serving as the face of our company and cultivating lasting relationships with clients. The driver is responsible for operating a tractor-trailer or straight truck on various routes, both intrastate and interstate, for the purpose of delivering and unloading food products safely and timely, in compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.

Primary Responsibilities:
– Engage professionally with customers, vendors, and co-workers, providing accurate and timely responses to inquiries.
– Collaborate effectively as a team member within the department and organization, undertaking any assigned duties to best support company objectives.
– Conduct all necessary safety checks, including pre- and post-trip inspections of the vehicle and trailer as per DOT regulations, ensuring compliance with company safety standards.
– Report any safety concerns or required repairs promptly.
– Adhere strictly to all DOT regulations and company driving policies to ensure safety on the road.
– Inspect trailers to confirm that freight is loaded and secured correctly.
– Perform item count checks and verify customer invoices for loaded products.
– Accurately complete all required documentation associated with freight in a clear and legible manner.
– Maneuver the tractor to the loading dock and attach preloaded trailers as needed.
– Drive along predetermined delivery routes to deliver customer orders.
– Unload products from the trailer and transport them to designated storage areas at customer locations.
– Conduct damage control checks on items, scan products, and liaise with the supervisor regarding order removals in line with company policy.
– Confirm delivery with customers and obtain necessary signatures.
– Collect payments (cash or checks) when required, and securely load customer returns onto the trailer.
– Ensure that the tractor, trailer, and freight are securely locked at all times.
– Manage the unloading of damaged goods and customer returns, completing any necessary paperwork.
– Clear out all materials and trash from trailers and ensure general housekeeping in the tractor and loading area as required.
– At the end of each shift, properly secure all equipment and complete all requisite paperwork.
– Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
– A minimum of 12 months of commercial driving experience is required.
– High school diploma or GED (or state-approved equivalent).
– Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL A).
– Compliance with all state licensing and/or certification requirements as applicable.
– Must be at least 21 years of age.
– A clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past three years.
– Successfully pass a post-offer drug test and criminal background check.
– Complete a road test successfully.
– Hold a valid current DOT Health Card or be able to secure a new one.
– Ability to hand-lift and utilize equipment such as two-wheelers, lift gates, and other devices to manage product cases/freight of varying sizes and weights throughout the shift; the typical product weight ranges from 10-35 pounds, with larger items between 60 and 90 pounds depending on the location.
