Position Purpose:
Food and food service delivery drivers play a vital role in the nation’s food supply chain. Our delivery drivers ensure that customers receive their products on time and in excellent condition, serving as the face of our company and fostering lasting relationships with each client.
The driver will be responsible for operating a tractor trailer or straight truck for intrastate and interstate local deliveries, over-the-road (OTR) transportation, shuttle services, and overnight/deliver-and-drop routes. This role includes delivering and unloading food and related products to customers efficiently and safely while adhering to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
Primary Responsibilities:
– Engage professionally with customers, vendors, and coworkers, ensuring timely and accurate responses to inquiries.
– Collaborate as a team member within the department and organization, undertaking any tasks assigned to optimally serve the company.
– Conduct all required safety checks, including pre/post trip inspections of tractor/truck and trailer, ensuring compliance with DOT regulations and company safety standards.
– Report any safety issues or necessary repairs promptly.
– Adhere strictly to all DOT regulations and company driving policies.
– Immediately address and report all safety hazards and ensure proper loading and securing of freight.
– Perform item count checks and verify customer invoices for loaded products.
– Accurately complete all necessary paperwork associated with freight in a legible manner.
– Maneuver the tractor to the loading dock and attach the preloaded trailer as required.
– Follow predetermined delivery routes to deliver customer orders punctually.
– Unload products from the trailer and transport items to designated storage areas at customer locations.
– Conduct damage control checks on items, scan items, and communicate with supervisors regarding order removals in accordance with company policy.
– Confirm delivery of items with customers and obtain the necessary signatures.
– Collect payment where required and secure customer returns on the trailer.
– Ensure that the tractor, trailer, and freight are properly secured at all times.
– Manage the unloading of damaged goods and returns, completing any requisite paperwork, and maintaining cleanliness within trailers.
– Log hours of service daily in accordance with Federal DOT, state, and company standards.
– Keep the tractor, loading dock area, and trailers clean and tidy as required.
– At the conclusion of each shift, secure all equipment and finalize necessary documentation.
– Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
– A minimum of 12 months of commercial driving experience.
– High school diploma, GED, or state-approved equivalent.
– Valid CDL A license.
– Compliance with all state licensing and certification requirements (where applicable).
– Must be at least 21 years of age.
– A clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past three years.
– Successful completion of a post-offer drug test and criminal background check.
– Pass a road test.
– Possession of a valid DOT Health Card or ability to obtain one.
– Capable of handling and utilizing equipment such as a two-wheeler, lift gate, and others to move and stack product cases/freight of varying sizes and weights throughout the shift; typical load ranges from 10-35 pounds, with some items weighing up to approximately 60 to 90 pounds, depending on the location.
Preferred Qualifications:
– Experience with onboard computer and electronic log systems (e.g., PeopleNet).
– Familiarity with hand-held point of delivery scanning systems (e.g., POD).
– Prior experience in customer service-related roles.
