Job Responsibilities
- Adhere to and enforce safety protocols throughout the plant and at all customer sites.
- Ensure compliance with safety procedures and training as mandated by Fori Automation management, MIOSHA, and OSHA, and actively participate as a member of a Safety Team as necessary.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping across the plant facilities.
- Supervise and ensure quality craftsmanship on jobs under your guidance.
- Complete in-process quality control (QC) check sheets as required.
- Conduct QC audits as necessary.
- Collaborate with the Mechanical Assembly Supervisor on manpower planning and coordination to ensure timely job delivery, understanding task completion times and prioritizing work accordingly.
- Provide consistent updates on job status to the Mechanical Assembly Supervisor.
- Direct builders on daily job assignments.
- Oversee the processes of sub-assembly, final assembly tryouts, painting, disassembly, and shipping.
- Audit incoming materials and marked-up Bill of Materials (BOMs), ensure distribution to builders, and guarantee proper storage of all materials required for the respective jobs. Provide feedback to the supervisor regarding material status.
- Supervise the packing and loading of machines and units for shipping.
- Order necessary materials to ensure completion of jobs.
- Lead and/or assist in debugging functions for machinery.
- Travel as necessary to assist with installations, debugging, problem investigations, or troubleshooting at customer sites.
- Recommend, initiate, and monitor engineering changes, documenting processes according to ECO procedures. Utilize the kiosk located on the shop floor for documentation.
- Engage in continuous improvement projects as needed.
- Provide recommendations to the Mechanical Assembly Supervisor regarding personnel selection.
- Facilitate training and support for new employees, including interpreting build prints. Mentor and develop Sub-Leaders.
Job Requirements
- High School Diploma required.
- Journeyman certification or status required.
- Associate’s Degree in a Technical Field preferred.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience as a Machine Builder.
- Previous leadership experience of at least 2 years preferred.
