Job description:
Under general supervision, the part-time Clerk A – Advising Front Desk will perform various clerical duties essential to the functioning of the department. This role requires the exercise of independent judgment and effective multitasking abilities while providing assistance to students and compiling necessary data.

Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- A minimum of three (3) years of clerical experience, demonstrating proficiency in basic mathematics, filing, proofreading, typing, spelling, and data entry.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Proficiency in understanding and utilizing office equipment, including personal computers and department-specific software.
- Competency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to multitask and adapt to a dynamic work environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate degree.

Job Duties:
- Utilize analytical skills to triage phone and in-person student inquiries.
- Assist with on-campus recruitment events hosted by four-year colleges and universities.
- Refer students to appropriate personnel as needed.
- Compile reports from existing records (Colleague, SARS) as required.
- Aid in the compilation and organization of data for student text campaigns, including data importation and mapping into SARS messaging software.
- Support the review of applications and the interviewing process for open clerk positions within the department.
- Assist in the training of new clerks.
- Monitor emails directed to the front desk mailbox to ensure completeness of documentation submitted by students and their preparedness for scheduling advising appointments.
- Promote four-year advisor visits through various channels such as Schoolcraft.edu/transfer, building signage, and student-run newspapers.
- Operate standard office machinery and software effectively.
