Job description:
The Senior Data Analytics Engineer is tasked with the design, development, and maintenance of advanced data analytics solutions that empower informed business decision-making processes. This role emphasizes the utilization of extensive experience with PowerBI or similar analytics tools to convert complex data sets into actionable insights. The Senior Data Analytics Engineer collaborates with various cross-functional teams to comprehend business requirements, subsequently translating those into precise technical specifications. This position is vital in advancing data-driven strategies while ensuring the integrity and accuracy of the analytics solutions provided. In partnership with other data engineers, data architects, and IT teams, this role will operationalize and document data extraction and ingestion platforms including Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, and Azure Data Factory, in addition to offering guidance and mentorship to junior data engineers.
Key Responsibilities:
– Spearhead the development of medallion architecture utilizing Microsoft PowerBI and Fabric.
– Employ tools such as Azure Databricks and Azure Data Factory to extract, transform, and load data across various layers of our data ecosystem.
– Collaborate with the data governance team and data architects to define and design data solutions aligned with the Firm’s data initiatives.
– Identify and integrate disparate data sources to develop solutions that solve problems and deliver business value.
– Partner with project managers to provide effort estimates and offer technical leadership in solution design and requirements gathering.
– Create mock-up solution designs, visualizations, and reports to effectively communicate proposed solutions and deliverables.
– Serve as a subject matter expert and advocate to educate stakeholders on the Firm’s data platforms and best practices regarding the usage and management of data assets.
– Engage regularly with line of business customers to understand their processes and evolving data needs, identifying potential data-related projects.
– Collaborate with data scientists and developers to leverage advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence and machine learning to uncover hidden patterns and trends, enhancing the value of the Firm’s data.
– Foster constructive working relationships with project team members, vendors, and various departments involved in projects, systems, and IT strategies.
– Adhere to data governance principles throughout data usage and solution design.
– Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to maintain the accuracy and timeliness of the Firm’s data.
– Work closely with the Information Security and Compliance teams to ensure that the Firm’s data strategy and technologies comply with both internal policies and external regulatory standards.
– Collaborate with BDO Global and other BDO member firms to uphold organizational standards that support reusable models and facilitate rapid deployment of shared technology.
– Possess familiarity with Project Management fundamentals and adhere to Project Management Office policies and procedures.
– Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Education:
– High School Diploma or GED is required.
– A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Management, Mathematics, or Statistics is preferred.
Experience:
– A minimum of five (5) years in roles such as data engineer, data analyst, or similar positions is required.
– A minimum of five (5) years of experience with PowerBI, Tableau, or comparable data visualization products is required.
– Proven experience in developing and understanding custom SQL queries is required.
– At least three (3) years of experience with modern scripting languages, such as Python, Scala, R, or JavaScript, is required.
– Experience with version control tools, such as Azure DevOps or GitHub, is required.
– Preferred experience includes three (3) years within cloud platforms like Microsoft Azure, AWS, or GCP.
– Experience within a large enterprise environment with significant regulatory and compliance considerations is preferred.
– Prior experience in a professional service firm is preferred.
Technical Proficiencies:
– Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, is required.
– High competency in SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) or equivalent is essential.
– Proficiency in PowerBI, Tableau, Looker, Qlik, or similar visualization tools is essential.

Individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including qualifications, experience, skills, and geographic location. The national salary range for this position is between $110,000 and $140,000, which applies to regions in Maryland and New York City/Long Island/Westchester as well.
