Ohio Valley Goodwill Industries, established in 1916, is a prominent provider of rehabilitation services in the State of Ohio. Through our network of retail stores, we generate sales revenue that supports thousands of individuals with disabilities and local veterans experiencing homelessness.

The Retail Sales Associate serves as the initial point of contact for retail customers, delivering exceptional customer service and ensuring a pleasant and safe shopping atmosphere. This role collaborates with team members in a dynamic environment to efficiently prepare merchandise for sale and display on the sales floor, while also providing operational support to the management team.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Flexibility to work varied hours to accommodate store opening, production, and closing operations.
  • Proficient communication skills in English to interact effectively with customers and OVGI associates.
  • Strong verbal communication and active listening capabilities.
  • Exceptional sales and customer service skills with the ability to anticipate customer needs.
  • Competence in processing information and transactions via a computer system and POS register; familiarity with calculator usage is essential.
  • Basic math skills and cash handling experience, including the ability to count change accurately.

Physical Requirements

  • Capability to work in a non-climate-controlled environment.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and twist for extended periods, up to 8 hours.
  • Physical strength to lift up to 35 pounds regularly.
  • Regular interaction with customers and use of computers and telephones as required by job duties.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Deliver professional, friendly, and courteous service to all customers, both in-store and over the phone.
  • Accurately process sales transactions at the POS, ensuring precision in all transactions.
  • Adapt to a flexible work schedule as determined by the supervisor, including weekends and holidays.
  • Maintain product knowledge to readily assist customers with their inquiries.
  • Uphold dressing room standards and ensure sales floor presentation is maintained, communicating needs for stock adjustments to management.
  • Keep the register area organized and clean.
  • Adhere to store security protocols.
  • Utilize the paging system to communicate store messages.
  • Conduct store housekeeping tasks, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting, including restrooms and dressing rooms.
  • Assist donors and customers at retail locations, greeting donors, receiving donations, and providing receipts.
  • Effectively communicate our mission and vision to donors and customers while soliciting monetary contributions at the POS.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Compensation
The pay rate for this position is $12.00 per hour.
