Job description:

The custodial workers are tasked with ensuring the specified and general maintenance of the Harbor Light Complex and its surrounding grounds, including the mini-park and parking lot. This position operates during the third shift and offers a compensation rate of $16.00 per hour.

Responsibilities:

  • Communicate with the Facilities Manager regarding any repair needs, safety concerns, and security issues.
  • Alert the Facilities Manager and team members about any delays in work projects.
  • Perform floor maintenance, including dust mopping and wet mopping all hard surface floors, utilizing a floor scrubbing machine as required, and vacuuming carpeted areas within designated spaces.
  • Sweep and mop stairwells, and dispose of any trash found within those areas.
  • Manage facility waste by removing and disposing of all common area trash.
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms, including urinals, toilets, showers, sinks, and mirrors, while ensuring necessary supplies are stocked.
  • Wash interior windows and glass surfaces.
  • Dust furniture, walls, and equipment; wipe and clean tabletops, chairs, and other furniture within assigned areas.
  • Assist with the loading and unloading of deliveries and dumpsters.
  • Clean roofs and drains as necessary.
  • Perform snow removal and salting of all sidewalks, driveways, entrances, and parking lots at the Harbor Light Complex.
  • Collaborate with lead maintenance workers and co-workers on various assignments.
  • Complete and submit all required paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Operate the elevator as needed.
  • Be available for overtime in emergency situations or as required.
  • Work in a laundry room environment with temperatures of approximately 90 degrees, including washing, drying, and folding linen.
  • Navigate the building with a cart to collect and distribute linen and mop heads.
  • Maintain an inventory of all housekeeping equipment.
  • Ensure open lines of communication with all staff members.
  • Comply with all written personnel and program policies established by The Salvation Army.

Qualifications:

  • Must routinely lift and carry boxes weighing 25 pounds or more.
