Job description:
The Sales Manager will be instrumental in driving sales and enhancing the visibility of Huntington Place, Detroit’s premier Convention and Exhibition Center. This position emphasizes lead generation, proactive client solicitation, and securing bookings for meetings and events throughout the region and metropolitan Detroit area. The Sales Manager will engage in personal sales calls, direct outreach, and implement strategic marketing initiatives. This role entails representing Huntington Place to clients and industry partners, conducting facility tours, preparing proposals, negotiating contracts, and ensuring successful event bookings. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated professional with exceptional sales acumen, high energy, and the capability to engage effectively with diverse individuals and organizations. The Sales Manager will report directly to the Director of Sales and Development.

Key Responsibilities:
– Address sales inquiries and leads from clients, hospitality partners (including hotels and Visit Detroit), and various industry sources.
– Evaluate space availability, rental rates, and the feasibility of events while adhering to company policies.
– Implement yield management strategies to optimize economic outcomes.
– Maintain precise booking records and client information within a computerized sales system.
– Leverage contemporary sales and office technologies, including CRM tools, email marketing, and digital sales platforms.
– Be prepared for a flexible schedule that includes early mornings, evenings, and weekends to accommodate client needs.

Qualifications:

Education:
– A Bachelor’s degree in hospitality, sales, marketing, business administration, or a related field is preferred.

Experience:
– A minimum of 5-7 years of sales experience in a convention center, hotel, public assembly venue, or related industry.
– Experience in selling digital assets is advantageous.

Skills & Competencies:
– A strong grasp of event and hospitality sales strategies.
– Familiarity with convention, entertainment, and venue sales terminology.
