Job Summary
The individual in this role will be responsible for managing the overall effectiveness of assigned nuclear valve programs, ensuring continuous regulatory compliance while enhancing station performance. This position is posted within a salary range, and offers will be determined based on the candidate’s qualifications.

Job Description

  • Attain expert-level knowledge in assigned program areas, particularly the Air Operated Valve (AOV) Program.
  • Monitor and assess component performance through field inspections, data analysis, condition evaluations, and the implementation of robust preventive and corrective maintenance strategies.
  • Provide technical assistance for event investigations, troubleshooting efforts, regulatory communications, and design modifications.
  • Assess operational risks and devise comprehensive risk mitigation and elimination strategies.
  • Ensure adherence to nuclear safety, quality assurance, and radiation protection regulations.
  • Oversee compliance with NRC regulations, ANSI/ANS standards, and ASME codes.
  • Optimize resource utilization and manage expenditures to adhere to budget constraints.
  • Leverage periodic self-assessments and industry benchmarks to facilitate ongoing improvements in program effectiveness and component performance.
  • Work a 4×10 schedule (four 10-hour days, with Fridays off).
  • Preferred engineering degrees include Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, and Nuclear Engineering.
  • Experience in nuclear program or system ownership is preferred, with particular focus on Air Operated Valve (AOV) program ownership.

  • Technical Expertise: Demonstrates advanced knowledge and executes a variety of tasks proficiently, applying theoretical and analytical techniques to resolve complex problems and conduct extensive analyses. Understands the interrelationships between systems and component equipment and recommends improvements to business processes.
  • Leadership and Guidance: Coordinates the work activities of team members within the work group, department, or other corporate entities as needed to perform standard engineering tasks. Independently manages routine engineering activities and provides training and mentoring to junior staff.

Minimum Requirements for Nuclear Engineer:

  • Typically requires a minimum of 4 years of relevant engineering experience paired with a Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program; alternatively, 2 years of relevant engineering experience combined with a Master’s degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program. Candidates with a PhD in engineering from an ABET-accredited program may be considered for entry-level roles.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in any U.S. state or Puerto Rico is encouraged and preferred. *ABET refers to the Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology.

Acceptable Alternative:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in engineering (non-ABET) supplemented by a Master’s degree or PhD in engineering from a university with an ABET-accredited Bachelor’s program. Confirmation is required to ensure the PE obtained in Puerto Rico aligns with NCEES standards.

Minimum Requirements for Nuclear Engineer, Sr:

Minimum Requirements for Nuclear Engineer, Principal:

  • Typically necessitates 8 years or more of relevant engineering experience with a Bachelor’s degree from an ABET-accredited program, or 6 years of engineering experience along with a Master’s degree or PhD in engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in any U.S. state or Puerto Rico is mandatory for this position, unless a waiver is granted by the organization’s EVP.
