Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct sampling and testing of raw materials and commodities to ensure compliance with quality procedures, specifications, and guidelines.
  • Maintain the effectiveness of the quality system, including managing commodity lot traceability and ensuring compliance with Kosher regulations.
  • Perform sampling of ingredients and packaging materials, including quarterly and annual supplier monitoring.
  • Analyze ingredients and assess packaging materials as per defined testing protocols.
  • Monitor schedules and authorize the release of ingredients and packaging materials.
  • Provide minor troubleshooting of lab equipment with as-needed assistance.
  • Identify and report method procedure issues, out-of-specification conditions, or anomalies to supervisory personnel.
  • Enter quality data into inventory management systems, including MITS, AMAPS, and LIMS.
  • Manage the hold list for commodities and coordinate the final disposition of held items through either destruction or release based on justification and approval.
  • Submit Supplier Event Notifications to Supplier Quality Assurance and relevant plant personnel.
  • Collaborate routinely with inventory planning, materials management, and plant Quality Engineers to ensure timely evaluation and release of ingredients and packaging materials, while also reporting defects.
  • Update plant procedures to align with new policies and accurately reflect operational practices.

You will be responsible for adhering to compliance standards set forth by the FDA, OSHA, and Abbott policies and procedures.

Shift Details
This position entails working from 8:30 PM to 7:00 AM, Sunday through Wednesday. Please note that training following orientation will take place on the day shift from 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Tuesday through Friday.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of one year of college-level science courses (e.g., chemistry) with relevant labs and one year of college-level mathematics (algebra, geometry, trigonometry, or calculus), or possession of a B.S. or B.A. degree in a scientific or technical discipline.
  • Capability to perform sensory evaluations, which include taste testing products for flavor, texture, and aroma assessments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, or a closely related technical field.
  • Familiarity with applicable regulatory standards and requirements related to nutrition.
