Position Purpose:
Delivery drivers in the food and food service sectors serve a pivotal role in our nation’s food supply chain. They ensure that customer products arrive on time and in excellent condition, while also representing our company and cultivating lasting relationships with our clients. As a Shuttle Driver, you will be instrumental in our operations by transporting empty trailers to our Operating Company warehouse locations and delivering full trailers to domicile or shuttle yard locations. This position involves driving tandem trailers, tractor-trailers, and/or straight trucks on both intrastate and interstate routes, adhering to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. You will communicate and engage with customers, vendors, and colleagues in a professional manner, ensuring queries are addressed accurately and promptly. You will function collaboratively within your department and the broader organization, performing any assigned duties to best serve the company.

Position Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
– Conduct all necessary safety checks, including pre/post-trip inspections of the tractor/truck and trailer in compliance with DOT regulations, ensuring that all equipment meets company safety standards and taking appropriate action as needed.
– Report any safety issues or required repairs promptly.
– Adhere to all DOT regulations and company safe driving policies, reporting hazards immediately and confirming that trailers are properly loaded and secured.
– Ensure required route paperwork accompanies the tractor-trailer load and is accessible upon dispatch.
– Operate and deliver trailers following a predetermined route schedule.
– Execute hook/unhook procedures according to safety guidelines.
– Park and store tractor-trailers in designated areas.
– Secure all equipment and freight properly.
– Collect and secure damaged goods and customer returns in an empty trailer to return to the base facility, completing all necessary documentation.
– Unload equipment and materials, and remove trash from trailers as required.
– Maintain daily records of hours of service in accordance with Federal DOT, state, and company regulations.
– Perform general housekeeping duties in the tractor, loading dock area, and keep trailers clear and clean as required.
– Carry out additional related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
– Minimum of 12 months commercial driving experience.
– High School diploma, GED, or state-approved equivalent.
– Internal candidates must maintain good standing.
– Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills.
– Valid CDL A with Doubles Endorsement.
– Must be at least 21 years of age.
– Meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements, where applicable.
– Possess a clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past three years.
– Ability to work a 3rd shift schedule from Sunday to Thursday nights (schedules may vary).
– Successful completion of a post-offer drug test and criminal background check.
– Pass a road test as required.
– Maintain a valid current DOT Health Card or be able to secure a new one.
– Capable of hand-lifting and utilizing a two-wheeler, lift gate, and/or other equipment to move and stack product cases or freight of varying sizes and weights throughout the shift; products typically range from 10 to 35 pounds, with some items weighing between approximately 60 and 90 pounds, depending on the location.
