Position Details:

Position Purpose:
As a pivotal component of the nation’s food supply chain, our Food and Food Service Delivery Drivers ensure timely delivery of products in optimal condition, serving as the face of our organization and cultivating lasting relationships with our clients.
As a Shuttle Driver, you will be integral to our operational effectiveness, responsible for transporting empty trailers to operating company warehouse locations and delivering full trailers to designated domiciles or shuttle yard locations. The Shuttle Driver operates a tandem trailer, tractor-trailer, and/or straight truck on both intrastate and interstate routes, consistently adhering to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. You will engage professionally with customers, vendors, and colleagues, ensuring prompt and accurate responses to inquiries. Collaboration within the team and organization is essential; task assignments will be directed toward serving the best interests of the company.

Position Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
– Conducting all mandated safety checks (including pre/post-trip inspections) of the tractor/truck and trailer, ensuring compliance with DOT regulations and company safety standards, and taking necessary actions when issues are identified
– Promptly reporting any safety concerns or required repairs
– Adhering strictly to DOT regulations and company driving policies while immediately reporting all safety hazards; verifying that trailers are loaded and secured properly
– Ensuring that all necessary route documentation accompanies the tractor-trailer at the time of dispatch
– Operating the vehicle and delivering trailers according to a predetermined schedule
– Executing hook/unhook procedures in accordance with safety protocols
– Parking and storing tractor-trailers in designated areas
– Ensuring that all equipment and freight are secured at all times
– Collecting and securely transporting damaged goods and customer returns in empty trailers back to the driver check-in at the base facility while completing requisite paperwork
– Unloading equipment and materials and managing waste removal from trailers as necessary
– Maintaining a daily log of hours of service in accordance with Federal, state, and company requirements
– Performing general housekeeping duties in the tractor, loading dock area, and ensuring that trailers are kept clear and clean as required
– Undertaking additional related duties as assigned

Qualifications:
– Minimum of 12 months of commercial driving experience
– High school diploma/GED or state-approved equivalent
– Internal candidates must have a good standing within the organization
– Proven verbal and written communication skills
– Valid CDL A with Doubles Endorsement
– Must be at least 21 years of age
– Compliance with all state licensing and certification requirements (where applicable)
– Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past three years
– Availability for a third-shift schedule, specifically Sunday through Thursday nights (with potential for varying schedules)
– Successful completion of post-offer drug test and criminal background check
– Passing score on the road test
– Valid current DOT Health Card or ability to obtain one
– Capability to hand-lift and utilize a two-wheeler, lift gate, or other equipment to move and stack freight/cases of varying sizes and weights during the shift, generally ranging from 10-35 pounds to approximately 60-90 pounds, depending on the location
