Job Summary
As a key member of a comprehensive team dedicated to delivering innovative technology solutions to address various business challenges and opportunities, you will focus on translating specific business requirements into technical solution architectures. This includes application architecture, integration architecture, data architecture, and non-functional requirements encompassing supportability, resiliency, security, and more. You will also convert general business requirements and trends into architectural patterns and technology ecosystems across various domains, including data center architecture, application and integration architecture patterns, technology standards, non-functional technical requirements, and computing paradigms.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Lead the development and maintenance of technology and architecture standards, policies, and guidelines correlated with AEP’s Maximo platform.
  • Review business requirements and create high-level end-to-end solution designs, while facilitating project estimates that align with the overarching business vision, emphasizing supportability and scalability.
  • Assist leaders and their teams in evaluating the technology, business, and operational implications of their investment decisions regarding the Maximo suite of applications.
  • Build and maintain trusting relationships to foster collaboration across teams, System Integrators, job families, and various leadership levels, enabling the accomplishment of complex goals.
  • Engage in all aspects of application delivery under limited supervision.
  • Collaborate closely with developers and other project team members on assignments of low to medium scale and risk.
  • Gather and analyze user requirements to generate conceptual designs and implementation strategies.

Minimum Requirements:
Architect (SG7):

  • Education: A Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field is required.
  • Experience: A minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience is required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Architect Senior (SG8):

  • Education: A Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field is required.
  • Experience: A minimum of 6 years of relevant work experience is required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Preferred Requirements:
Experience/Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of business processes related to Work Management, Asset Management, Supply Chain, Procurement, and Fleet operations.
  • Proficiency in configuring Maximo workflows, automation scripts, and the Maximo Integration Framework (MIF), as well as experience with web service technologies such as REST (using JSON/XML) and SOAP. Familiarity with Maximo Spatial, start centers, work centers, security, escalation processes, cron jobs, BIRT, and QBR is also advantageous.
  • Familiarity with Maximo version 7.6.x and IBM WebSphere Application Server, along with an understanding of code repositories, automated testing tools, application performance toolsets, and authentication and single sign-on capabilities.
  • Experience with OpenShift, Kubernetes, React JS, and React Native.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with business partners to evaluate alternative solutions and business workarounds.
  • Relevant Maximo Certifications are preferred but not required.

Location:
Candidates are preferred to be located near Columbus, OH, or Tulsa, OK.

Compensation:
Architect (SG7): $85,081.00 – $106,352.50
Architect Senior (SG8): $96,110.00 – $124,940.00

Compensation Grade: SP20-007
The specified compensation range applies to candidates based on their qualifications and ability to work from an approved location. While the location is flexible, AEP does not operate in all states and localities; therefore, certain locations (including AK, CA, CO, CT, DE, HI, IA, ID, KS, MA, ME, MS, MT, ND, NH, NJ, NM, NV, NY, OR, RI, SD, UT, VT, WY, US Territories, or international work locations) are not eligible for this position. AEP will consider qualified candidates willing to relocate at their own expense to an approved work location, provided relocation can be completed within a timeframe that meets AEP’s staffing needs.
