As a Merchandiser at American Greetings, you play a crucial role in fulfilling our mission: to help people celebrate holidays, relationships, and all of life’s special moments, enriching the world with thoughtfulness and care each day. We are seeking independent merchandisers to work across various retail locations, applying their organization and time management skills to display and maintain our wide range of celebration products, including greeting cards, gift wrap accessories, party supplies, plush items, and more.

Compensation:

  • The starting pay is $13.50 per hour, with two scheduled increases within the first year of employment (rates may vary by location).
  • After six months of employment, the pay rate will increase to $14.30.
  • Following one year of continuous employment, the pay rate will rise to $15.00.
  • Flexible work scheduling is available.
  • Paid training is provided.
  • Employees are eligible for a 401(k) plan with company matching contributions.

Route and Schedule:
This role encompasses service to several retail locations, including 5225 Monroe St, Toledo, OH, 43623; 1901 Dorr Street; 404 E Broadway; 828 Phillips Ave; 5105 Monroe St; 5233 Monroe St Space 104; and 6235 Monroe St, Sylvania, OH. The weekly hours average 12 hours, with potential increases to approximately 22 hours per week around holiday seasons.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide merchandising services to stores on your assigned route, including organizing product orders, displaying goods in greeting card departments, maintaining organized backroom areas, and performing additional inventory tasks as needed.
  • Communicate any inquiries or concerns about services or schedules with management.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced retail environment by demonstrating effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Build professional relationships with retail store associates and management during daytime business hours.
  • Be available for additional workdays and extended hours leading up to and immediately following major holidays.
  • Assist with store resets, which may involve minor fixture adjustments, product assembly, relocation, or removal as requested.
  • Plan and review your weekly service schedule and workload for assigned stores using a company-issued tablet.
  • Exhibit the capability to work independently as well as part of a team.

Experience:
No prior experience is necessary; we are committed to providing comprehensive training.

Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Proficiency in speaking, reading, writing, and understanding English is required.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Access to reliable transportation, as most routes involve multiple retail locations.
  • Must have access to reliable internet for critical job communications and updates.
  • Technologically adept, with the ability to learn and utilize a company-provided tablet for training and daily tasks.
  • Availability to meet scheduling needs, including occasional weekends and the days before and after major holidays (e.g., Valentine’s Day, Easter, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas).

Physical Demands:
You will be required to work on the sales floor and in the back stock room, which includes pushing, pulling, lifting, and carrying product cartons and fixtures weighing up to 40 pounds. The role necessitates standing, walking, stooping, and squatting throughout the workday. A step stool may be utilized for certain tasks.
