Responsibilities
- Acquire and perform fundamental dental assisting functions in accordance with the applicable state’s Dental Auxiliaries Table of Permitted Duties, under the direct supervision of a licensed dentist.
- Actively contribute to the Perfect Patient Experience by focusing on optimal treatment while addressing individual patient needs and concerns.
- Master proper infection control protocols for sterilization and operatory cleaning and disinfection to ensure the safety of patients and team members.
- Assist in the completion of radiographs and intra-oral images at the dentist’s direction, only after fulfilling all state requirements regarding radiation safety.
- Learn to prepare for patient care procedures efficiently, including patient preparation, proper arrangement of procedure trays, providing basic chairside support, and ensuring a smooth handoff to the front desk for follow-up appointments.
- Instruct patients on postoperative care and general oral health, as directed by the dentist.
- Accurately document patient charting and treatment notes in digital patient records, following the dentist’s guidance.
- Support patient care by presenting treatment records, consents, and health history to the dentist prior to treatment.
- Adhere to all State, Federal, and other regulatory compliance requirements, including OSHA, WC, Dental Board, HIPAA, ADA, DOL, and HR policies and practices.
Qualifications
- No prior dental experience is necessary.
- Customer service experience is preferred.
