Job Summary
In this role, you will utilize ionizing radiation to produce diagnostic radiographs of specific anatomical areas, adhering to established practices and protocols for all age groups. You will be responsible for obtaining patient histories, explaining routine procedures, and addressing any patient concerns. Providing exemplary patient care in line with the Radiology Gold Service Excellence guidelines is essential to ensure the successful completion of procedures. You must exercise professional judgment while performing your duties, in alignment with the Code of Conduct established by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). As a team member, you will contribute to enhancing job stewardship while being mindful of both internal and external customer service standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform high-quality diagnostic procedures while applying principles of radiation protection to minimize patient exposure.
  • Maintain knowledge of and adhere to universal precautions and other safety protocols as determined by the University of Michigan Health System.
  • Respond to patients’ changing physical conditions, including alterations in airway/breathing, heart rate, levels of consciousness, and seizure episodes.
  • Communicate effectively with patients to gather important clinical information, provide instructions, alleviate anxiety, and secure cooperation during procedures.
  • Identify and administer appropriate contrast media following departmental protocols while maintaining aseptic techniques.
  • Employ excellent customer service skills and Guest Relations competencies, ensuring patient confidentiality at all times and demonstrating effective teamwork.
  • Adapt to changing environments, including flexible schedules, emergency situations, protocol development, and advancements in technology.
  • Function efficiently in a fast-paced and often stressful environment.
  • Maintain current registration with the ARRT.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduation from a school of radiologic technology or an equivalent combination of education and experience is mandatory. Registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology is required within the first six months of employment.
  • Demonstrated excellence in interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to think critically, along with ingenuity and professionalism.
  • Comprehensive understanding of age-appropriate guidelines concerning communication, positioning, radiation exposure, and protection.
  • Physical capability to push, pull, assist, and transfer patients safely from transportation devices to diagnostic tables. Ability to maneuver heavy equipment, such as portable devices, and proficiency in fine motor skills. Dependability is essential.

Desired Qualifications
Experience with PACS, proficient computer entry skills, and a background in general diagnostics within a trauma setting. Familiarity with GE OEC 9900 with vascular C-arms, O-arm, ISO C-arms, GI/GU Procedures, portable procedures, and digital imaging experience with wireless technology. CPR certification is preferred.

Work Schedule
This position requires four 10-hour shifts from 10 PM to 8 AM, including every other weekend.

Salary Range
The salary for this position is $57,346.
