We are currently seeking a qualified Medical Assistant to join our team. The Medical Assistant plays a crucial role within our care team, working closely with primary care physicians to deliver exemplary patient care and ensuring a positive experience for all patients. Our unique model allows Medical Assistants to oversee the entire patient experience, functioning both as Medical Receptionists and executing clinical responsibilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The following duties and responsibilities summarize the expectations associated with this position but are not exhaustive:
– Escort patients to examination rooms and ensure that these areas are thoroughly cleaned and appropriately stocked.
– Review previous medical records and collect updated health information from patients to inform healthcare providers.
– Measure vital signs, perform blood draws, administer injections, dress wounds, and assist in medical procedures, collaborating with external laboratories for additional tests as needed.
– Prepare and administer approved medications and immunizations—oral, topical, inhaled, intramuscular, subcutaneous, or intradermal—following directions and written orders from the physician.
– Collaborate with other care team members to develop individualized patient care plans, including identifying and addressing gaps in care.
– Execute front desk responsibilities such as patient scheduling, processing medical record requests, maintaining documentation, coordinating specialist visits, managing referrals and other external care, as well as check-in and check-out processes.
– Accurately record pertinent data in the medical record in accordance with documentation guidelines.
– Process test results and communicate findings to patients promptly via electronic message, mail, or phone, as instructed by the provider.
– Engage in outreach efforts to foster patient involvement among eligible demographics.
– Maintain inventory of clinical and office supplies and equipment necessary for treatments.
About You:
– A minimum of one year of experience as a Medical Assistant is required, preferably in a primary care setting, with variations based on clinic needs.
– Completion of a formal Medical Assistant program or an equivalent relevant program is required.
– National or state-specific certification or registration as a Medical Assistant is strongly preferred, and is mandatory in states where certification/registration is required.
– CPR/BLS certification must be current by the start date.
– Preference will be given to candidates with phlebotomy experience.
