Job description:

The Enrollment Support Specialist will play a vital role in assisting prospective and current students throughout the admissions, registration, and financial aid processes. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of financial aid options, application processes, and eligibility criteria. This position requires familiarity with Lakeland’s admissions and registration policies and a commitment to providing exceptional student support in a friendly and professional manner.

Responsibilities:

  • Guide students and their families through the entire college enrollment process, including admissions, registration, financial aid assistance, counseling, and student billing, while upholding confidentiality and adhering to the guidelines established by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
  • Respond to student inquiries via phone, email, and text, exercising professional judgment to facilitate enrollment decisions.
  • Manage enrollment tasks, including processing admissions applications, incoming transcripts, test scores, registration transactions, transcript requests, data entry of various documents, and printing official and unofficial transcripts.
  • Collaborate closely with colleagues across the College community to enhance student services.
  • Maintain and analyze reports, addressing any issues to streamline the admissions process using the college’s CRM system.
  • Schedule students for placement tests and enroll them in the New Student Orientation and Health Information Sessions via Blackboard.
  • Assist students in navigating Lakeland’s website, myLakeland, and the Billing Center.
  • Stay informed on programs, policies, and procedures related to Admissions, the Registrar’s Office, Financial Aid, College Credit Plus, Health Technologies applications, and other relevant departments.
  • Inform students of the documentation necessary for processing admissions applications, financial aid, registration, and changes to student records; provide them with the appropriate applications and forms.
  • Create and maintain accurate electronic student records.
  • Expedite financial aid processing following student registration when applicable.
  • Support the Counseling and Advising Center through scheduling student appointments for academic and personal counseling; manage daily schedules and prepare necessary documentation for each appointment.
  • Check in students for Counseling and Advising appointments and communicate their arrival to academic counselors.
  • Address queries from Counseling and Advising staff via Teams chat.
  • Collaborate with academic counselors to resolve registration issues, including prerequisites, multiple measures, and registration errors.
  • Contribute marketing materials for Express Counseling and Advising initiatives.
  • Assist with various projects for Enrollment Operations and participate in campus activities, including Connect Fest, Welcome Days, Financial Aid Awareness Week, Grad Fest, and Commencement.
  • Facilitate community use of the Cares Cupboard and assist with inventory management.
  • Provide necessary documentation to support student-athlete eligibility.
  • Contact students with Early Alerts to schedule academic counseling appointments or provide essential resources.
  • Download and distribute documents uploaded to the SSC Secure Upload.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education/Training and Experience:

  • An associate degree, accompanied by one to two years of experience in a financial aid office, is preferred. Equivalent combinations of education and experience that impart the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities are acceptable.

  • Knowledge of FAA Access, Ellucian Banner, NSLDS, and COD is preferred.

Conditions of Employment:

The office hours are Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with slight variations during peak registration periods. The hourly salary starts at $17.30, commensurate with the staff salary schedule at 6A.
